After not attending the local pub for the last 3weeks and returning this evening to have a beer with a friend I was greeted by an aggressive landlady demanding why I hadnât been in for the last 3months and saying the last time I was there I stropped off. The last time I used the pub we were told to leave as the pub was shutting at 8pm because the landlady had no staff, why could she not work the bar herself? There were approx 10-12 other people in the pub all told to leave so went elsewhere to watch the darts final. A member o staff from Coca Cola was with me that evening and witnessed her behaviour. Demanding to know why I stropped off and not being in the pub wanted to know why I had appeared tonight. She said she did not want me in the pub so left after telling her some home truths. As usual the land lady was intoxicated downstairs after popping numerous tramadol tablets and drinking copious amounts of vodka and coke. If you ever appear at the bird in hand and the doors are locked and the lights are on, she has shut the pub but the cameras are on so if the area managers check or the brewery it seems as though the pub is empty but really the lazy landlady canât be arsed to work herself once the paid staff leave. Previous reviews of unfriendly conversions from the landlady, refusal to cook food because she has b&b rooms to deal with and clean are all true and the bird in hand will continue to fall into disrepair, awful management and lack of customers because of the...

My now fiancĂŠ booked The Bird in Hand for my birthday after our visit to West Midlands Safari Park, and it couldnât have been more perfect â especially as itâs where we celebrated our engagement!
Weâd never been to the area before, but it was honestly the loveliest stay. The view, the accommodation, the service, the breakfast, and the staff were all incredible. My fiancĂŠ and I are very fussy, but we didnât need to be here â the bedroom was spotless, tidy, and had everything we needed (even a fan, which we really appreciated!).
We were also given great local recommendations for dinner, and the one we tried was pure perfection. Breakfast the next morning was exquisite â again, weâre picky when it comes to food, but it was faultless.
From start to finish, it was amazing value for money, with a perfect view and a beautiful walk down to the pub that made the whole experience even more special. This is now our new favourite place, and we canât wait to come back for our anniversary to...

An excuse given though "most around here drink Sheraz so I don't know when the Merlot bottle was opened". We ordered a ploughman's lunch and a chicken kebab with chips. The ploughman's was a slice of ham, small wedge of cheese a pickled onion and a bit of salad and a small baguette which was stale and therefore unedable. The wife's kebab was slimy and unedable so she left it all and ate the chips. Nobody came to see if we needed anything or ask if the food were OK. We slowly drank our drinks expecting someone to come and clear the table but know one did so we left very disappointed. We went here because the reviews and the menu looked to our taste. The first thing we noticed on arrival was a scant and basic menu. I know things in their trade have been tough and can accept a simpler menu, but I can't accept basic food not...
