So, I begin this review with a few notes. This review is based on relocation to their new Aberdeen location.

I ordered the Lake Trout with mashed potatoes and greens, and cornbread.

The Lake Trout was not fresh and seemed overcooked on the verge of being burned, or possibly refried from a previous order. It did not have any seasoning or flavor. Although the portion was adequate (enough for 2), it was not tasty, and the fish was not flaky; It was tough.

The greens, although they were seasoned, were mushy and the stems were larger than bite sized. This is an indicator of using fresh greens, however being cooked too long turned them to a canned spinach consistency.

Mashed potatoes lacked salt and pepper, however they were indicative of being made with fresh potatoes. Inclusion of cream or more butter would have made them smoother and more tasteful.

Cornbread was too moist for my taste, and reminded me more of an undercooked cake. I would have preferred the option for white bread.

With all of that being said, I feel I caught them on an off day, as there are reviews indicating they typically have decent food. Unfortunately, a business, especially a restaurant must live in a world of consistency. Although everyone's taste buds are different, a consistent customer experience must be accomplished.

I will say this. I will give them another chance simply because small businesses must get more than one chance as they are unable to have a team of scientist improving their products!! They give back to the community in ways that large chains cannot. They create long standing relationships, and are the true cornerstones of our communities.

The young lady who provided me my order was friendly, and even offered to make something that wasn't readily available on their menu. This is a mark of customer awareness.

I've seen the offer from the owner in previous reviews to offer a replacement meal at no cost. I do not want that!! I want to share my experience in a hope that it will improve those who come after me. I will alter my review based off of my next meal.

I ORDERED FROM GRUBHUB ON April 30th ,2020 at 5pm. FIRST IT SAID AN HOUR WAIT THEN IT CHANGED TO HOUR AND A HALF AND MY FAMILY WAS WAITING FOR 2 HOURS THINKING OUR ORDER WAS GOOD AND ON THE WAY. THEN AT 7PM, A LITTLE AFTER 7, I RECEIVED A MESSAGE SAYING CANCELED. NO PHONE CALL AND NO NOTICE AFTER WAITING 2 HOURS! WE WERE VERY DISAPPOINTED SINCE OUR MOUTHS WERE WATERING FOR SOME SOUL FOOD INSTEAD OF FAST FOOD FROM ORDERING A LOT DUE TO COV19. ANYWAY I GIVE A HALF A STAR MAYBE EVEN NO STAR DUE TO THE 2 HOUR INCONVENIENCE AND UNPROFESSIONALISM OF A FOOD BUSINESS. IF THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH OUR ORDER, THEY COULD OF COMMUNICATED BY CALLING AND THEREFORE MY FAMILY COULD OF MADE CHANGES OR ORDERED ELSEWHERE, GIVING US TIME. I order from here frequently but today made me rethink my decision. The lady that was taking orders and running the register today was not very pleasant. She didn’t greet me as I approached the counter so we just stood there staring at each other until I then said HI. I asked for chitterlings and she robotically stated that they were out of commission until further notice. I then asked for turkey wings and she said those aren’t available as well. I then asked for a menu to take out to the car and look over then she told me to take a picture of the menu with my phone. I finally placed my order and she told me the cost. I then handed her the money and within seconds I asked do I get the 10% off because I was paying cash and she then stated that I HAD TO MENTION THE 10% discount before I handed her the money as I’m looking at my money in her hand.
