I find myself gradually not liking this store. Which is sad because it's only 10 minutes from my house. It started out amazing - phenomenal selection of items, fast checkout lanes, etc. But now the place is dirty, their produce is a hit or miss, and they often don't have enough lines open. Also, please tell your employees to act more professional. Maybe I'm just paranoid, but the last time I was here, I noticed two male staff members were looking at me when I first entered the store. The second time I made eye contact with them, they said something to each other and looked at me smiling. I had on a pair of shorts over royal blue tights (which is something women have been wearing since the 1960s, and it's still a popular fashion combo), so I got the impression they were snickering about my appearance. I thought that was very ignorant and rude. Afterwards I walked up to the register and the cashier didn't say hello. We've seen each other many times before, so her shyness was quite odd. Over the last couple of years their customer service has gotten awful. It seems like the staff spends more time joking around than working. They got on my nerves anyway during the height of covid, wearing their mask incorrectly. On my last visit, I felt negative energy. I've read Google reviews for other Lidls where customers said the employees were rude. If you're a Lidl fan, I suggest going to Perry Hall. Trader Joe's is also a relaxing shopping experience, particularly the location in Newark, DE. The Towson location has friendly employees, but it's always overcrowded. Nonetheless, Trader Joe's staff members go above and beyond to help customers. I prefer employees who are non-judgmental and welcoming, to ones who make it obvious they're staring and laughing at you. Other stores are worth driving the...
Read moreThis is my favorite grocery store. Why then 2 stars? Let me explain. Lidl does a very good job stocking a large assortment of grocery items that our family uses. They're often out of stock with a lot of items, but since we're in COVID-19 this can be attributed to the "panic-run" that shopper often create, and I can't really blame them. For their grocery selection, and pricing, I give them 4 stars. However I have been very disappointed with the lack of "sanitation" lately. I've watched Lidl go from having an attendant wipe down each cart as it comes back from the parking lot, to installing "sanitation stations" for the shoppers to wipe down their own carts. (I suspect Lidl is trying to cut down on labor.) I visit my local Lidl 3 to 4 times a week, purchasing each time what we feel like having for dinner "that" night... not planning out multiple nights in advance. Recently Lidl's "sanitation stations" have left much to be desired. On yesterday's visit the "sanitation stations" were empty with hand sanitizer, there were no paper towels for me to wipe off the cart, there was no attendant anywhere to be found wiping off carts, and the disinfectant spray bottles were almost empty. (Since there were no paper towels I guess it doesn't really matter if the spray bottles were empty.) The hand sanitizer dispenser at the front door was also empty. I had to go back to my car and get hand sanitizer and sanitation wipes to wipe down my cart before going in to shop. For this I give them zero stars. If I can't feel safe shopping, then I don't need to shop there any longer. Lately I've watched the attention to detail drop off dramatically...
Read moreWell, I personally know Lidl sets very high standards for how the store is run. So I have been suprised the past few times I have been in the store at product quality. Most of the Lidl brand Italian bread was dated for April 9. As I was in there 04/13, it was 4 days out of date. I have noticed out of dates on every trip lately sometimes after I have brought the items home. I do like Lidl, but I don't want to have to check every date on every item every time. It also seems that the bakery items are baked in the am and left out for the rest of the day. Maybe if they were baked and wrapped they would retain freshness and be worth spending the $ on. I love the lidl bakery in more metro areas when items are baked throughout the day. The bakery at this lower volume store doesnt seem to be doing Lidl any justice and the items aren't worth buying in the late afternoon, evening hours. The spring plants were priced well but in serious need of water. Looking at them made me thirsty and you once again were out of Turkey Hill tea. Sorry Lidl. Management needs to pay a little more attention this store doesn't seem to be doing as good as it...
