Our experience here was awkward. We were visiting for a wedding last month for this visit, in the small town and left disappointed. I was so excited to come get ice cream, as any person or child would! Plus I choose this place based on reviews! Our first question to him was how his day was and his response I won't post, but it was just inappropriate as a business owner running an ice cream shop. If you aren't a happy person and don’t like people, DON'T OPERATE AN ICE CREAM SHOP! Happy people come in! And happy people walk out! With the title of the company and it being a small town I was in the middle of the sentence "do you make your ic---" and I was interrupted before I finished my question by the owner. He wasn't friendly or approachable at, almost defensive. I was afraid to ask for a sample, and he begrudgingly gave me them but all I wanted to do was leave. We kept making conversation with him to be nice as I paid for our (expensive) scoops cause we still wanted to support local... asking how long they've been their, how they made it through covid, etc... Still very unpleasant. We were the only ones in there and he didn't want conversation, at all. The ice cream wasn't anything special and as far as we understood he buys from multiple locations/providers for quality ice cream. We walked in excited and happy and walked out completely broken down and dishearted, and also shameful with every bite we ate for going in there. We regret not walking out and going else where. I do NOT recommend this place unless someone else is there to greet you and you want mediocre ice cream you can get at a...
Read moreGift Certificate Issue
My child received a gift certificate for $20 for her birthday last year. They put an expiration date of July 5th this past Saturday, and we came to the store today, July 8th. They said they will honor 50% of the certificate value due to it having expired. So my child lost out on the transaction. I assumed it was our fault and just thought crappy they didn't honor the whole thing, but after further research under the NC State Department of the Treasurer -
Gift Certificates Unredeemed gift certificates bearing an expiration date are presumed abandoned three years after issue. The amounts are reportable regardless of whether names or addresses are available. The amount abandoned is deemed to be sixty percent (60%) of the unredeemed portion of the face value of the gift certificate. North Carolina General Statute §116B-53(c)(8) outlines the guidelines for reporting unredeemed gift certificates.
The child was happy with ice cream, but don't waste money buying gift certificates for presents. Choose another local place that will honor the minimum of 3 years required by the NC Department of...
Read moreLove their ice cream but they need another menu board further away from the door so customers can see the choices before they get to the window, there is always a line which is great for them but with all this social distancing it makes it very difficult to decide quickly when you cannot see the menu until you are right at the window. As we were waiting in line to be able to get to the menu this woman barged past my son and I, stuck her face in mine without a mask and informed me she needed to see the menu and said " you don't mind do you?" As she passed me. It infuriated me. I could see a child pulling something like that but not a woman in her late 50s.. I said nothing, i let her be rude, didn't get a look at the menu and ordered vanilla ice cream. A good ice cream makes everything "just fine" lol.. even though I wanted to slap the rudeness right out of that woman.. We took our ice cream across the highway to the lake, we sat on a bench at the waters edge watching the ducks and discussed how people shouldn't be while standing in line. Lol Rude people just get under my...
