Sharon's Barbeque & Catering — Restaurant in Abilene

Garbage. Paid nearly $30 for a 5 meat plate and a large coke. The lady taking our order did not know how to operate the headset and asked us to pull forward. When she finally came to the window we were informed they are out of two of the meats we selected, ribs and turkey. We said we did not need a receipt which she handed to us anyways in lieu of keeping our debit card. 10 minutes later as people are coming and going she comes out and states they are out of another one of our selected meats; chicken, after we already paid. When I asked for a refund she ignores me and said they are already almost done building our plate. So we opted for double sausage. In the end out of the 6 to 7 meats they offer, 3 were available so we had to double up. Another ten minutes go buy as people come and go and they bring us our food. When I called them to address the issues there was nothing but disdain on the other line and was told that the chicken that we ordered was taken by another customer after we had already placed our order. Not sure how that works. When we got home and checked the food there were very small portions of the three meats they had available, which is why we specifically attempt a variety because they skimp you on so called doubles of a specific meat on one plate, while offering more for the same price with if they are different selections. All in all brisket was dry, gristly and tough, incompetent and rude employees, skimpy servings for the price so I guess they are pretty proud of their stuff, out of multiple menu items regularly. Done...

I'm new to the area and discovered Sharon's while delivering food as a driver for Favor. It always smelled so great, and they were always busy. Wanting to try something new, on my 51st birthday, I chose to have dinner here with my family. Unfortunately, it was disappointing. It wasn't the sit-down restaurant I imagined it would be. It was more like a cafeteria line. Choose your meat, then grab sides from the line. Also, the menu at the restaurant was different than what was presented online, so we were unable to have the food we had planned to enjoy. We almost decided to leave but decided we would give it a try. Most of my family ordered from the "cafeteria" while my daughter ordered a burger & fries that had to be made, which is great except we were all done with our food before she received her meal. Also, the potato side appeared to be mashed potatos, which my sister loves, so she piled it on only to discover it was a not so tasty potato salad. It ruined her dinner because all she had was a meat, a biscuit & lots of potato salad, which she wasn't going to eat. I was content with my meal, but I only had brisket & fried Okra, which came a la carte. It was easy to see how disappointed everyone was with their experience. And we have decided that we will never eat there again. As to how much we spent, I don't know because my sister paid for all our meals. I will say that she said it was not worth...

Prior to writing this review I was thinking to myself Hmm who else has great food?...And then I remembered those juicy ribs that yummy potato salad and that delicious BBQ chopped beef sandwich that my wife and I had ordered at a different time.Duh... Sharon's! My wife worked at a day care close to this location. And man Oh man I will say this place has some mighty fine food. It reminds me of when I was younger my grandparents would always say the best BBQ comes from out of town and they definitely weren't lying... Now don't get me wrong I can make some pretty good BBQ myself but for a BBQ chain you guys are looking at some room for expansion if y'all keep that good cooking coming our way. Your hard work is appreciated and I'm sure this city would agree. In regards to the negative reviews sometimes it's best to go inside and politely inform the manager of this issue. I'm sure they would be more than happy to fix the problem for you and it will keep it from happening to some one else. Some times people do things without knowing what they are doing we have all done it at one point in our lives... To some maybe even multiple times?
