I have truly fallen in love with far western Virginia and all the amazing small towns just off of I-81, and Abingdon is definitely on my list of favs. And on my visit to Abingdon, I stumbled upon White Birch | Food + Juice and I am so happy I did!

The Vibe: This is an Uber cute place with seating outside. I could tell alot of locals go there and hang out.

Service: Service was great, super friendly and attentive. I got alot of great suggestions and enjoyed chatting about the area.

Food: The food was really good. I had the Birch Power Bowl - Rice & quinoa topped with broccoli, chicipeas, seasonal root vegetables, dried cranberries, seasonal nuts, Ziegenwald goat cheese, and a maple tahini dressing. I also added avocado and a fried egg to the bowl. The bowl was super satisfying and delicious. My only "complaint" was the raw walnuts. I would have preferred toasted walnuts or another type of nut. I also had the Golden Milk Latte which was surprisingly delicious! (Wolf Hills coffee, house made oat milk, turmeric paste, agave cinnamon, coconut oil).

A cool feature is that they have a full bar and some interesting cocktails. So if you are ever driving along I-81 and wondering where to stop -- head to Abingdon and stop by White Birch | Food + Juice.

I ordered a gift card online and have tried numerous times to get it delivered. They said they don’t sell giftcards on their website anymore. I am very disappointed and upset that nobody seems to care about honoring the $40 I paid for a card. At this point I’d just like my money returned. I bought the card for my niece at Emory and Henry. I would not advise doing online business with this establishment maybe In person is better. It’s been 3 weeks and I have gotten no help I have sent a picture of the credit card statement given the last 4 digits of my card number and been very nice about the situation. I wrote this review to get someone’s attention. But I do not appreciate being told I am lying or trying to scam $40 from someone. It’s $40 I don’t need it. It’s the principle of the matter. I got your attention obviously because you’re threatening legal action for a restaurant review. Wow if your website doesn’t work fix it. Don’t blame me. I have posted only one other negative review and it was just as true as this one. Businesses need to take responsibility for their mistakes just like the rest of us. I may have to visit your eatery the next time I’m in Abingdon to see if you’re this rude in person....

My husband and I came here earlier this summer as a fun detour on our way home and I am SO glad we did! While I don’t have pics of our AMAZING meal, what I do have are memories:

I had the birch power bowl with steak and he had the breakfast bowl with steak. My husband ordered the BEST Bloody Mary I’ve ever tasted, it was fully loaded but not overwhelming, so we shared it before our meal. We drank a mimosa each while dining and had coffees to go. Absolutely everything was so delicious, had balanced flavors, and they were great portions.

I’m addition to this, and the reason I wanted to write this review, is because of our server Katlyn. She was not only knowledgeable of the menu, but she guided our palette to ensure that we had a delicious and satisfying meal. She recommended the mimosas, the Bloody Mary, and the steak add-on to our bowls - all great choices; we had such a wonderful time. She was very attentive, welcoming, and generous! (Thank you so much for being awesome!!!)

While we do not live close, this place is definitely worth making the detour if you’re...

Such a disappointment .. and our server Maria is the one to blame. Took her more than 45 minutes to bring us a salad and a wrap. And then 10 more (!) minutes to finally bring us the utensils. Although she repeatedly blamed the kitchen, a couple next to us who arrived 30 minutes after we placed our order - well, they got their salad and wrap literally a minute after us, not to mention 4-5 takeout orders we saw coming and leaving with their food. So not sure what stories Maria was telling, but I have a feeling she forgot to enter our order to begin with. On top of that - we were charged more than double for avocado on a salad that is supposed to be a surcharge of $2 ( screenshot from the menu below). Well, Maria charged us $5.5.. And then argued about it (?!?).. As someone who is fortunate to wine and dine her away around the world - highly recommend to reconsider the choice of this specific staff member, or at least invest in some training , as she reflects badly on the whole establishment.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Must-Visit Spot in Abingdon We stopped by White Birch | Food + Juice during our road trip from Maryland, and it ended up being one of the most memorable stops of the trip. I ordered the breakfast bowl, fresh juice, and a coffee—everything was absolutely delicious. The bowl was hearty and flavorful, the juice was fresh and vibrant, and the coffee hit the spot. What truly made the experience stand out was the southern hospitality. Sydney and Rachel are an incredible team—welcoming, attentive, and full of good energy. Sydney especially went out of her way to help us plan our itinerary for the rest of the day, which made a big difference in how our trip played out. It felt like getting insider tips from a friend. They even brought over a beautiful wooden tea box with a variety of options, which was such a nice, personal touch. We were lucky to visit on a Thursday since they’re closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays—definitely plan around their hours if you’re in town.
