I am a tremendous aficionado of whoopie pies - I've been a fan of the treat since I was young and have always been looking for the "perfect" version of these confections. The right balance between cookie and filling is a challenge, and very few people get close - in fact, for a long time, the closest I ever found to the perfect whoopie pie was from a well-known shop in Maine.

That is, until I had a whoopie pie from Shire Cottage Bakery. The cookie has a perfect amount of flavor and texture, without being too crunchy or too soggy. The filling is ideally balanced and has a bit of a buttercream crunch to it. It's no longer necessary to travel states away for the perfect whoopie pie - SCB makes them here in The Berkshires!

And does not take into consideration the range of other, equally fantastic baked goods that are made at SCB - some of the best not just in the region, but that I've had the opportunity to taste. Jessie was kind enough to bake our wedding cake - vanilla base with a salted caramel filling and maple frosting. I promise, it was just as mouth-wateringly good as it sounds! All of our guests commented on how delicious the cake was. As someone who was originally against having a wedding cake (it was my lovely husband’s request), I was simply over the moon with the final product.

Not only was the cake delectable and beautiful, but Jessie was a true joy to work with. Responsive, professional, and incredibly kind. She went out of her way to drop off cake samples at our venue ahead of a family trip as it was one of the only times we would be in the area before the wedding. You can’t get better service than that!

The only disappointing thing is she doesn’t have a storefront for me to go visit all the time! I couldn’t recommend Jessie, The Shire Cottage Bakery, and the baked goods more highly!

I am so glad I chose Shire Cottage Bakery for our wedding cake. Jessie is fantastic. We could have gone with any of the samples she gave us to try but landed on the vanilla with raspberry jam. It was DELICIOUS and she did a beautiful job of decorating it with my sola wood flowers, which match my bouquet. The cake was delivered on time and in perfect condition.
