We live here in adams and have been wanting to check this place out. Man was that a mistake. I honestly don't know why so many people book here. We stayed on valentines day night. We got back to our room "The Ruth" around 1030 after going out for drinks at the neighboring bar., AJs. I started a bath and found blood in the tub. I immediately texted the worker Kate and she was already at the building because people were saying we were yelling Mind you it's not even 11pm yet. She kept denying the blood and said she checked out the room before we arrived and it must of been something else. The bathroom door doesn't stay closed because they don't have the door installed properly. The jets in the spa tub were all caked up with calcium. The shower curtain had mold all over the bottom of it. The exhaust fan doesn't work. Half the light switchs go to outlets I assume? I couldn't really figure that out. The bedding is disgusting with black dots all over it, 1 pillow had spots of blood on it. The pillow cases were definitely dirty to the point where i went home and got ours to feel more comfortable. Back to the noise. Quiet time hours are from 11pm to 6am. Why is Kate coming into our room at 1045 telling us we need to be more quiet. I understand at 11 but it was early. Also what's up with her having other guests come our and approach me in the hallway then proceed to record me when we are having a conversation? As soon as he took out the phone I looked at my wife and said we can just leave. Kate agreed that would be best and we would be refunded. I started packing and went outside with half my stuff where my wife fell on their icy steps and walkway because they don't use any salt. They just use dirt they get for free from a local lot in adams. Then the police showed up and I told them we were already leaving. I wasn't allowed to go in to retrieve the rest of my things. The police luckily helped us get them. Very nice and professional officers. As we concluded with Kate she then said we would not get a refund, which changed from what she told us upstairs, and told us not to come back with we definitely won't be. This place is not even clean, it has no staff when you arrive, we literally didn't meet anyone til that night. Also they lie to you. I do not recommend this place at all. Where you park you literally have to jump over a wooden fence unless you want to go out of your way and walk through a horrible parh. I'll have more pictures to post later but here is what I have. Avoid this place, hotel downstreet is so much cleaner and nice and cheaper. Plus they have a indoor hot tub and pool and never have had an issue there. Our fault for trying something new.
Update to the review: After a few days of my review being up, someone from the Trail reached out to me telling me to take my review down and they're reporting it saying everything I've posted is untrue. I have pictures and video from the night as proof. They're wrong for what they did and how they treated us. My...
Read moreLocation: Like many former mill towns in this part of Massachusetts, Adams has had to reinvent itself. Kudos to the owners of the Topia Inn for being part of the creative effort to revitalize this part of the Berkshires. We happen to think that mill towns are fascinating places. That said, if you are looking for an inn in a bucolic country setting, the Topia Inn is not for you as it is located near the center of town. We did not try the bike trail, which runs behind the Inn, but enjoyed the short drive to nearby hikes and to the Clark Art Institute. ||||Overall vibe: The Topia Inn is a really nice change of pace from more traditional b&bs. Our room, the Zen room, had a particularly modern feel. We enjoyed sampling the organic bath products and appreciated the effort that had gone into making the Inn so eco-friendly.||||Cleanliness: The Inn was very clean inside, as you would expect of a place that requires guests to remove their shoes. We didn't find the hotel's rules about bath products, etc. to be onerous. ||||Comfort: Our room was comfortable, and we really liked the bed until the third night when one of the slats broke (neither of us is particularly large, I hasten to add here). As the bed was still pretty much flat, and it was late, and we were too tired to ask to move to another room, we stayed put. ||||Quiet: The first two nights there were very few people staying at the Inn and it was very peaceful, but on the third night after more guests arrived we could hear foot traffic on the second floor, although it got quiet early and we had no trouble sleeping. If you think this would be an issue for you, I would recommend getting a room on the second floor if you are staying on a weekend.||||Hospitality: Maureen, who greeted us on arrival, was very nice and available to answer any questions we had. The breakfast room was stocked with an wonderful array of teas available all day.||||Breakfast: We stayed at the Inn for three nights and the breakfast menu each morning was a banana smoothie, banana bread, and some variation on baked eggs (souffle, crustless quiche, torta). The food was tasty but a little more variety/creativity would have been really welcome, particularly on the third morning. If you are only staying a night or two, this won't be an issue.||||Room for improvement: A little TLC to the exterior of the Inn would make it more welcoming. The porch was dusty and didn't really invite sitting (although it is furnished). A few flowers out front would make a big difference. ||||Overall, we enjoyed our stay and were comfortable at the Topia Inn, which was a great base for exploring this part of...
Read moreI loved our room, and the woman who received us was wonderful, a sweet person. Anyways I expected more because they are so specific about cleaning and to be organic ... my sheets had some stains, my pillow had a smell that seemed used and were not changed, I used a bath towel on top to not smell the face cream when I went to sleep. Wasn’t a bad smell, or something dirty, just a similar smell that someone had already used, and I can't stand smelling something that I don't know. I’m a person who loves a clean place, I know how it smells of changed sheets and clean without a doubt, without fear to make mistakes, my sheets and pillowcases were not changed before my stay. Unfortunate when the advertising for cleanliness is very high, the expectations of people are very high too. But for me the worst mistake was when I went to use the hygiene products in the bathroom and they were already used, please tell me that I am wrong, this cannot happen in my point of view, I attend a esthetician school and I I know how dangerous it is to use products that have already been opened and used by other people especially face products, with so many bacteria and diseases and everything, the hotel makes it very clear that we cannot take our own hygiene products because they prefer something organic ... I'm not buying everything organic to stay a night or two in a hotel, if they want it so much that things are only organic, I think they have to offer new products like any other normal holiday inn and non-organic hotel does. They offer organic products for sale, but as I said before I wouldn’t buy anything organic that I don’t use just to stay overnight in a hotel, but I’m grateful that I’m always prepared in my own way, and I didn’t need to use anything that others people already used ... When I went to have my breakfast the music was super loud, even the waitress said she could understand us ... I think something for 8 in the morning and a small room with 8 people must be something very low. by the way I didn’t think the neighborhood was bad, and there’s no parking lot, but you can park anywhere on the street, it’s not a bad thing, but it’s good to know. Maybe being organic doesn't have to be so clean, that's what my husband said. Topia Inn is not a bad place to stay, it is beautiful and a nice and peaceful environment ... but as I said before, I expect something more because they are so restricted...
