I come to Dallas a few times a year, and every time I come, ascension is one of my go to coffee places, and I even order their beans online and make pourovers at home from time to time.
Sadly to say, this was the worst experience Iâve had in any coffee shop. The store wasnât busy when I walked in, and I had asked if they had an iced option for the ethiopia pourover and the barista told me they can do either or and so I asked for mine iced along with a hot chocolate for my friend. The hot chocolate came out in 2 minutes, and my pourover took exactly 18 minutes. I make pourovers at home all the time and the extraction time should never be longer than 5 minutes, and less than 4 minutes for iced. When I asked if my drink was coming after waiting 10 minutes, she told me itâs coming and that it takes a long time.
When I finally received the drink, she brought it hot. I proceeded to tell her that I ordered it iced and she said âoh rightâ and took it away(same person who took my order). I was hoping to myself that sheâd remake it and not just pour it over ice, but she just poured it over ice as I feared and brought a 500 ML glass cup that was filled to the brim with the ice almost completely melted and the drink was not cold. I paid $8 for a pourover and this was the quality I had recived. I decided to not complain and to just exchange my order for a $4 iced americano, so I expressed the situation to the other barista working the espresso machine and she just nodded her head. No apology or remorse whatsoever, and then the americano was under extracted and really sour. Really really disappointed, and a great way to end my day. I donât think I will ever come back, and I hope this doesnât happen to anyone...
Read moreIâve been here twice now, and itâs ok but not what it should be. The interactions with employees is a little cold, but itâs not terrible. First time here, I ordered a latte, and the girl plopped it on my table with a very annoyed attitude as if I was waisting her time. It was bizarre, but the latte was good so I looked past it. My second time made it my last. I ordered a vanilla lavender latte, and it was mildly warm and extremely sweet to the point I just couldnât drink it. I asked for some coffee to tame it down and the girl seemed annoyed but not overly rude about it. I also ordered avocado toast, and first glance looked gross. I didnât realize it had egg with it, which was watery and very runny. I just hate eggs though. Then I took a bite of the avocado toast and it was cold, not warm even⌠Cold. The bread was not toasted at all. So I went back up to the counter to tell them. And at that point I basically lost my appetite; but they said they would remake it and I said ok even though I just really didnât even want it at that point. The next one was ok. They claim itâs âThe Original Avocado Toastâ. Which would hold an exciting flavor pallet in my thoughts and expectations. But itâs just toast, avocado, pimentos, and feta. Thatâs it, nothing special. No interesting seasonings. I guess Iâm just more expectant of places like this that portray a serious made-from-scratch vibe. Overall itâs better than a lot of places, and they probably do have amazing foods, but my experiences just...
Read moreI started a new job a few months ago and Ascension Coffee is just a block away. Saw that it was National Coffee Day and asked a coworker if she would like to walk with me next door during break to get a coffee. I got a Shroom Latte. Took a looong time for them to make it. When I got it an took a sip it was SPICY! I mean, the description did say spices, so I thought maybe just the first sip was abrasive and it would tone down. Kept exclaiming how spicy it was to my coworker when walking back to work. When back to work, I just couldn't drink any more of it. I poured out the coffee and in the bottom was at least a TABLESPOON of pure spices. As if the lid to the shaker they used for the spices fell off and I got WAY more than I was supposed to. Had to throw it away and my mouth was on fire. I went to the Ascension website and wrote to Customer service explaining my experience, sending the pic and stating that I felt they at least owed me a coffee. Never have heard back from them and that was over a month ago. I have been to the Ascension in Coppell twice and have had a bad experience both times (with the food and service) I will never go to Ascension again and would...
