Golden Crown — Restaurant in Aguadilla

Recently I moved from Fajardo to Aguadilla. In Fajardo, other than Panda Express (seriously) the restaurants that claim to offer Chinese food wouldn't know Chinese food if it assaulted their olfactory system. So, you wouldn't believe my excitement when I read the reviews for Golden China.

Taste buds on the ready, salivating like a dog over a t-bone I went to Golden China last week. At 5pm the restaurant was deserted. A sign on the door in Bold Black letters said "CASH ONLY." After I entered I asked the owner why she only accepted cash. She proceeded to dive into a half-baked excuse about not having internet because of Hurricane Maria (it has been 6 months and I have internet. Businesses were the first to get back online). I listened as she rambled. The following day I followed up with Liberty PR, the internet service provider the owner said she contacted to arrange for service. Since Hurricane Maria, Golden China has not instigated a business installation or service contact with Liberty PR.

I certainly cannot comment on Golden China's cuisine. That said, how can I trust the cooking, cleanliness or ingredients of an establishment which in multiple other ways so egregiously violates the trust of its...

When Im in PR I typically try to eat what the island offers but my mother was convinced Chinese fried rice in PR was the best thing on earth so I made friends with a local and he told me about this spot. I would say when I walked in it did smell a little weird. They sat us quickly and they offer alcoholic beverages. Okay they look very small but it was on point like a porcupine. Lol I had a caption Morgan and coke. As soon as they brought my drink out the meal was ready. So I was happy we didn’t have to wait to long. Now I have to say the fried rice wasn’t to die for but the chicken lo mein was! It was by far the best lomein I ever had and I’m from the bronx! The chicken was real chicken breast.. The flavor was on point.. The shrimp dish was over sauced and not much flavor and the rice seemed more burnt. So I would definitely recommend the chicken lomein for sure! Honestly, I hate doing these reviews unless they're four or five stars. In fact I have very few reviews that I make unless I love the place. In this case, I was appalled that one of the cooks was inside the kitchen smoking a cigarette while he was cooking. The food itself was 3 stars because rice overcooked and stale, but the shrimp and the curry chicken were both really good. It's a little odd that they put french fries in with the curry but I guess that's just a part of recipe. Either way after I picked out the french fries the curry was really flavorful. Anyway I won't be coming back there and it's not even about the guy who was smoking but mainly because it was just subpar.
