SPECTACULAR FOOD AND PLACE!
Why not 5 stars then?
We got there and were greated properly then, things went a bit south, our waiter came, then did a David Copperfield act, disappeared!
We waited, more waiting and then more waiting! So I got up and asked why no one was taking our order, if they were too busy we could leave.
Then a second waiter came and said she was sorry but our initial waiter had a big table, 10 people... But they had been there before we got there.
And more excuses popped-up. With all the excuses I indicated, it's all about courtesy. Just tell us that your busy and you'll be back. That's all it takes.
Then our original waiter came back and did not want to say her name. So I shut my mouth because I was steaming and didn't want to say anything that would hurt our waiter(s). After all, they have a really hard job. Dealing with people is extremely hard. And that's a fact.
Finally our food came and I was hoping it was bad.
FOOD The sorullitos had a good taste but were not cooked well, they were pasty. They stuck to your teeth. First time I have tasted them like that.
Calamari and Rice, Calamari was delicious 😋. Rice was not cooked well. It was a bit spongy. We, Puertoricans, like our rice perfectly balanced a bit more than al'dente but grainy.
Pechuga Rellena and Mofongo: blast into space! Spectacular! All flavors were balanced. Chicken was juicy. Mofongo texture and flavors were balanced and each complemented each other without overwhelming the other flavor.
Fried Cheese Cake YUMMY! Before you die you must taste this!
THEN IT HAPPENED Many waiters, including our original came and said sorry for the initial experience. I was humbled. I felt so bad, because they really cared and it clearly showed.
I was happy to have not said anything that would have caused me to leave such a phenomenal place.
Comes out, our initial waiter was AMAZING! Friendly, knowledgeable and professional! She made sure that we would not leave with a bad taste in our mouth.
We did not leave with a bad taste but with a taste of gratitude for the hard working people of MONSOON!
To our waiter, even though we never got your name, when I return, I will not accept anyone that is not you. You're the best, NÚMERO UNO!
TO THE MONSOON TEAM
Thank you for being so amazing at what you do!

SUMMARY This is a MUST visit place. And it's a great place for business or romantic night out.
Oh, why not 5 stars: because of sorullitos and rice. Just being picky.

Read moreService was excellent even though the place was full. We came as a small group that included some vegetarians. Vegetarian options are limited to a primavera pasta and mofongo; but for non vegetarians the menu is varied. we ordered "house made" melon juice and sangria. The sangria was good, the juice was a mix of natural melon with artificial store bought melon juice and not that good... We had some mozarella sticks, which were average. for the main course one of us had a stuffed chicken with mamposteao rice which was good. The pasta primavera for vegetarians comes in an alfredo sauce and includes frozen veggies (broccoli, cauliflour, and carrots) plus mushrooms, bell peppers and onions. it was average. some of the broccoli was overcooked and with a pale green color, some looked more vivid green and had better taste. it gave us the impression they might reuse the left over veggies from the previous day... I wouldnt say the pasta was bad, but wouldnt order it again. Probably a low average.. For deserts we tried the cremebrulee which was great, and a cheese flan. We were told both were house made, but the flan looked like the ones bought in aluminun cups on the supermarket in addition to tasting too sweet. it wasnt good. probably one of the worst cheese flans ive had. The decoration of the place was nice. good distance between tables. Attentive staff....
Read moreOkay, let’s start with the fact that we were DESPERATELY looking for a good family restaurant to eat and we were starving about to just give up and head into whatever place we found next, when suddenly a close friend of the family called us up after we had asked for suggestions telling us he had reservations for us at this Ah!-mazing restaurant, Monsoon Restaurant & Lounge! However, putting aside the fact that my stomach was grumbling and I was starting to irrationally snap at my sister h-angerly, once the food arrived (which took relatively no time at all!) I was so marveled by it’s presentation that I couldn’t stop myself from just digging in and trying the Pechuga Rellena de Amarillitos y Queso Crema with Trifongo. My tastebuds went to a concert and sang Hallelujah! It was amazing! Not to mention the dessert, Cheesecake Frito, which even though I was already full I nearly swallowed down because of how delicious it was! And last but not least, the service? IN-CRE-DI-BLE!!! The ambiance was so welcoming and charming, but laidback and you could obviously notice how even between the employees themselves there was really good rapport and nothing but helpful and good vibes! 10/5! Would recommend this...
