Habanero’s Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Aiken County

We came inside to order and sat at the bar while waiting for our food . I think we may have been one of four families in the entire restaurant and the service was slow and lackadaisical. We waited almost 10 minutes for someone to take our order while two waitresses charged their phone at the bar and chatted . Finally a bar tender / waiter , previously non existent , came and seemed to reluctantly take our order. My husband ordered a beer and chips while we waited . Happily the food came out in about ten minutes and we asked for a box to take our chips home - the bartender who brought out our food said it wasn’t necessary because we already had chips with our order !!!! Maybe they were going to reserve them to someone else ? Gross !!! We already know we won’t be coming back and we haven’t even tasted the food yet - the entire staff...

The enchilada tasted like was overly smoked. The sauce was bland. It did not taste good. Homemade cheese quesadilla would have been better than what was given at this restaurant. It tasted like a cheap taco bell. The meat on the carnitas en roja was precooked. The sauce was added just to heat up the precooked dish. Some of the meat was not covered with the sauce; I can literally taste the umami of the pork. This was not what I expected. I was expecting at the very LEAST have the sauce cooked with the meat to have the flavor of the sauce on the meat.The refried beans was from a can. This meal was not worth ~$25. The service was good but they don't know what's really on the menu. The menu have the wrong sauce in its description. The menu said carnitas en roja had the green sauce but what I got...

The service was good and very friendly. I ordered to go and the wait was not to long. I ordered a burrito and wanted it smothered with green chili. They did not have a smothered burrito on the menu so the waitress said she could switch out the the pico de Gallo and smoother with green chili instead. I got home and it was not smothered and had the pico. The steak had no flavor and only a very small dab of sour cream was on the burrito and had no cheese.i also ordered taco salad with chicken. The chicken tasted boiled and dry with no seasoning. I also ordered the chicken fajita which was very flavorful. Typically fajitas come with tortillas but did not get any. The price was good, just wish the food was better as we have been looking for a good Mexican place since we moved here. Probably...
