The response below from the owner explains everything you need to know about this restaurant and it’s staff. In his initial response to my review, the owner called me a liar and claimed that I had never been a previous customer. Even though I have ordered from A Pizza Di Napoli at least six times, and the owner and I had the EXACT same conversation about a previous order. It is now evident that he remembers the previous conversation and as result chose to simply delete his initial accusation. Additionally, in his original response he claimed that I was ignorant of the price of produce since I challenged his assertion that wholesale ONIONS are more expensive then ricotta cheese. A concept that is so ridiculous that he would later go on to delete that entire claim. Finally, rather than apologize for his previous accusations and assertions that he now must realize are patently false, he chose instead to double down on his criticism and simply delete his earlier comments. Below are the events that resulted in my original review of A Pizza Di Napoli: Let me begin by saying the pizza is above average for the area. Unfortunately, that quality does not warrant what I believe are exorbitant prices. Today, (3pm on a Thursday) I planned on ordering two New Haven style pizzas each with two toppings: pepperoni & onion, tomatoes & mushrooms. Additionally, I placed an order for one of their Vesuvius calzones. I requested that the Vesuvius NOT include ricotta cheese. I also enquired if I could add onions to the Vesuvius. This is where things get interesting. I was informed that I would be charged an additional SIX dollars for “personalizing” the Vesuvius PLUS an additional $1.70 for the onions. $7.70 to add onions, despite removing the ricotta cheese. I politely declined after learning the price. I was then asked for my credit card over the phone because the total for the aforementioned order was $70.62. Had I gone along with “adding onions” I would have ended up paying $80 for two medium two topping pizzas and a calzone. I have eaten multiple times at Pizzeria Bianco in Phoenix. This is not Chris’ pizza. My aunt teaches at a small college in New Haven. This is not Frank Pepe’s pizza. What this is, is how a local business loses...
Read moreI had been here twice before, once with my wife, and once with her and my daughter. Both experiences were good. Today I accompanied my Sister and her family to Aiken for my nephew's soccer game and I bragged on this establishment and convinced them to go post game. We arrived around 2:30 PM. We are rushed at the door because my brother in law has an empty (transparent) Dunkin Donuts cup, he wasn't allowed to bring in or trash. He must take it back to his car. There were 6 of us. They seat us in a booth, which is great for four. BIL goes and asks if we can move two tables together to be more comfortable. There is literally noone at any table but we are told no, unless we have a prior reservation. My family is ready to leave at this point, but I convince them to stay because of my past experiences. We go to order a bottle of chianti that's on their menu, and the same lady that shewed out my BIL and seated 6 in a booth, can't figure out what wine I'm talking about eventhough it's one of about six on the menu. After ordering I was doing major damage control as they were all ready to leave. My BIL stood instead of cramming us all in the booth the entire meal and ALL tables were vacant. The food was good, not excellent thus the 2 stars. The signage outdoors and indoors is off-putting. Don't be on your phone when ordering, dont have any strong odors, may take longer than normal for service due to demand....It's like the pizza nazi. I was embarrassed I recommended this for my family today and no owner, I won't come in for a conversation, when you were there.
In response to owner response: There was literally noone at any table during our entire meal. We ordered 3 pizzas, a large salad, two apps, and drinks. Booth did not accommodate those plus plates and silverware for six. Flex for your customers sometimes. If you did, you may have two families that...
Read moreI would give this 4 or 5 stars, based on the quality of the pizza alone. Unfortunately, the attitude of the owner and some of the staff, which is of course a significant part of the dining experience, was terrible. They were busy. This is a Saturday night. You have to order at the front counter, which only has one person taking orders. If they're busy, you have to stand in line to do so. This evening, the lines were long. If you don't pay up front (before you get your meal) you have to stand in line again to pay before you can leave. If you pay up front, and then decide you want dessert, or another drink, you have to stand in line again to order and pay for it. The friend I was dining with ordered a pizza to go, to take home to her husband, in addition to the meal she ordered to eat while we were there. The to-go pizza was brought to our table in a left over box after we finished our meal. The line at the front counter was very long. My friend asked the owner if he could keep the to go pizza warm while we were waiting in line to pay. His answer was no, nothing could be done, they don't make pizzas to go! She then asked for one of the cardboard boxes they use for the to-go pizzas the owner said they don't make. The cashier gave her one. At this point, the woman making pizzas started yelling to us and the cashier that those boxes are to be used only for to-go orders! This particular order, as opposed to the food we ordered to eat in, was clearly a to go order, not a left over, and should have been brought to us in a to go box to start with. I only hope the cashier didn't get in trouble for clearly doing what was right. This experience was very unpleasant and I have to blame the owner, who was right there. Not sure who the lady yelling about the to go box was. I'm not going back - certainly don't want to be treated this way in...
