All the way from TEXAS* Stopped here at the Sno-Cap "Drive in" while on vacation and was very disappointed to say the least. It was an old diner/drive in, so you think old fashioned appeal and great taste of fresh food. Wrong! The inside needs work and the "food" well it needs more than work! It needs to be tossed out! I ordered the burger and my husband a "strawberry shortcake". I took my first bite and realized it was a frozen patty. I asked the waitress if the patty was frozen and she said yes. The waitress was friendly and very apologetic, seemed like it was not the first time. So after my disappointment my husband offers a bite of his dessert. One bite was enough. It taste awful! The shortbread or cake had freezer burn, it had soft serve ice cream swirled on it, topped with strawberries and chemical tasting whip cream. I have a sweet tooth, No way I'd turn down dessert. My husband hadn't tried the whip cream yet. After speaking to the waitress again, I asked to speak with the manager or owner. I let her know about our meal. Her comment to her food, is that EVERYTHING IS FROZEN. Everything, that with all food borne bacteria like salmonella and so forth, she only makes frozen food. I told her that I could tell. I let her know about the whip cream, that it had a dangerous taste to it, like a chemical. She didn't offer to make it right. Guess the only thing she could have offered would have been, ice cream. Though that too could have been a bust! She claims she's been doing it for years and is still in business. The only crowd I saw were high school kids. Not that all children don't know food but c'mon a lot of them live on frozen foods! Lucky for her, not all parents cook and kids taste buds are desensitized to good food. If you like good food, this isn't your place. You can be your own...
Read moreThis place is probably exactly what most of us "now-a-days" would expect to find from the 50-ish era. A nice, themed "drive in" restaurant that still looks, for the most part, like it would have, when those were the height of social get-togethers for people! You can pull up in a stall, stay comfortable in your car, order your meal, and it will be brought out to you to decide if you want to eat it there or back your vehicle out and drive it somewhere else to enjoy. You can also pull in an actual parking space, located around the perimeter of the whole lot, and stretch your legs for a brief walk inside to sit in a booth OR even the classic, red topped bar stool right there at the counter! Doors to enter are located on both sides of the building. The bathrooms are located outside, on the left side of the building (looking at the restaurant from the road). The food was good! Simple menu, pretty basic. Burgers, hotdogs, fries, some chicken items, drinks\shakes. Good variety of toppings (condiments, onions, pickles, etc, etc, even BBQ) to add to whatever you choose to eat. Service was ok, alittle slow sometimes. During our visit, it was mostly young ladies working here as the wait staff, and ours, in particular, went outside for quite an extended period of time to talk to someone she knew in a car that pulled up outside and our food sat for a bit waiting to be delivered to our table. We never got asked about or offered refills of our drinks. But we would go again for the food, it was...
Read moreWas in the mood for a simple burger and onion rings, so I knew of this old drive style theme place in "NAUG". I did not do research before I went so when I pulled up and tried to used the intercom system to order, I did not see a menu. They have it set up that you go online to their website and look at the menu there or order online and drive up yo pick it up. So I re-park my car on the side so I don't take up drive in space and walk inside. The place is clean and staff is very friendly, I ordered a double patty bacon cheesy (dbl bacon cheeseburger), an order of onion rings togo, and a soft serve cone for there while I wait for my food. I did this because it reminded me of my old hometown drive in when I was little. Everything I ordered tasted fine, nothing special about it but they executed them well and boxed Togo like they cared. The price for these simple items were just not right for what I got, everything seemed like 1$ more than a reasonable price for the product. I guess the 1$ more I paid was for the experience of the old drive in style in today modern fast drive thru worlds or gourmet burgers? So a solid 3.5 but there is no .5 to give but not a 4 star drive in burger spot. They have plenty of potential and I hope they stay there for a long time to come and keep the...
