I finally got to this hidden gem. The location is small. Really small, but the food packed much flavor. There were a few things that made my eyebrows rise. I think there may be something going on with the sewage because there was a scent going on. Also, we didn't get tortillas and salsa with our togo order. I thought this was typical for Mexican restaurants, but I'm not going to ding them there because that could be me being stereotypical assuming that. I had the torta and it was really good. I asked for the barbacoa beef and it was good. I comes with pickled jalapenos, they were stingy with them but the few I had was a great addition. I dressed it with the salsa Verde. I didn't taste their water so I can't speak to that. The food came out quick. I also got the queso dip, that wasn't anything to rave about. It was typical. I will admit that I do plan to go back and I do recommend you give it a try.

I can say nothing but amazing things about this place. I have been coming to eat at Ameca for a couple of months now and I love the food here. I have tried a variety of dishes from lunch to dinner, like the Chorizo and eggs burrito and the Carne Con Chile dinner. I like to describe to people how the food is here, it is like going to your grandparents house and eating authentic home cooked meals. My friend from Cali turned me on to authentic Mexican food and this place is 100% authentic.

Jose is super kind, and his wife fixes an awesome plate of food. They moved here from Mexico, and make everything in house, it’s affordable and good! Since we moved up here from Texas we have been missing good Mexican food, this definitely satisfied our cravings!

For $15 for a burrito, we expect correct orders especially when it comes to food allergies. We ordered on Door Dash and were specific with just adding beans instead of meat to a burrito and they ignored this to add cooked carrots, bell peppers, onions, etc. This isn’t good or delicious. It’s gross. Not to mention, the food allergy we were trying to avoid. We also said ā€œextra beansā€ and there was not a single bean on that poor neglected burrito.

This may just be an Ohio specific thing but any time at most Mexican restaurants we’ve been to out here, including this one, they see ā€œno meatā€ they add cooked carrots, bell peppers, etc to the burrito. There’s no protein because there’s this weird anti-bean agenda and it’s just not good at all not to mention, again, food allergies we were specifically trying to avoid and why we were specific with order instructions that got blatantly ignored. Veggie burritos should be rice, beans, lettuce, tomato, cheese, sour cream, cilantro, and onion inside the burrito. This is how it is in California. This gives a complete protein instead of this weird wanna-be salad thing. If the beans are cooked in lard, just state that to the customer and ask if that’s okay please. But this burrito was a massive disappointment and just makes me pine for Cali Mexican food...

I didn't want to write this post too quickly after visiting (I'm glad I did)

The place is very small but, it fills the need for quality Mexican food in the North Hill area. At first the portions seemed small but they were just small plates as I was STUFFED by the time I left.

They serve water in a bottle and charge you for it. No ice.

The place STRONGLY of a cleaning agent. I'm not sure if they are trying to mask a smell or what but it drove my appetite down BIG TIME.

The place is not cozy... It's kinda weird.

By the time we paid for our bottles waters and $18 entres we were looking at a $90 bill for 3 and a child.

If you are a single person and are craving Mexican (for pick up) I would recommend this place but not for a table of 4.

I also would not come here is I was on a budget since they nickel and dime you.... My thoughts are the bottles water should be free in exchange for the STRONG cleaning product odor that fills the whole place.

Food...
