Best Damn Smoked Meats food truck is a true gem in the Akron area. This food truck has quickly become a favorite among locals, and it's easy to see why.
First and foremost, the Texas brisket is an absolute standout. With a perfectly smoky flavor and a melt-in-your-mouth texture, this brisket is truly something special. It's clear that the owner takes pride in the quality of the meat, as each bite is packed with flavor and tenderness.
But it's not just the brisket that's worth trying. The menu is full of delicious options, including the OG pulled pork sandwich, which is a classic that's hard to beat. The sides are also noteworthy, with options like big Vee's semi-famous vinegar coleslaw and cabbage and noodles, but my personal favorite is the potato salad. It has the perfect balance of creaminess and tanginess, with just the right amount of seasoning and dill.
The food truck has an eye-catching design, and the staff are always friendly and welcoming. Despite being only a year old, this food truck has already become a North Akron food staple, and it's easy to see why. The quality of the meats and sides is outstanding, and the owner's passion for his craft is evident in every dish.
The only minor critique is that the coleslaw could be a little more flavorful, but it's still a solid side dish that complements the meat well.
Overall, if you're looking for delicious and authentic barbecue in the Akron area, Best Damn Smoked Meats food truck is a must-visit. The Texas brisket alone is worth the trip, but the entire menu is full of tasty and...
Read moreThe food was eh....would I purchase again here? No. While the service was good, fast & efficient, the food wasn't that great. I ordered the brisket sandwich with extra sauce and 2 sides of collard greens. The collards were completely covered in hot sauce, so I was only able to taste that and not the actual food. There was some pulled pork in them, which was a nice touch. The juice tasted of water and the greens were greasy. No smoky flavor from the meat came through. The greens themselves were properly cooked. I'd recommend to make your "pot liquor" ie. juice for the greens with your smoked meat, vinegar and seasonings 1st, taste for seasoning, then add in the greens to cook. This way the liquid is well flavored and in position to import its goodness to the greens. I could taste the vinegar in the small amount of juice in the cup.
I will say the serving sizes were generous on the side and brisket. The brisket was so tender, fall apart, but it was bland as well. The BBQ sauce was good and the crunchy pickles lifted the flavor of the meat. The bun - tasted like brioche, was buttered and toasted, yet still soft and was able to support the generous slices of meat without falling apart.
Sides are 2 for $5, brisket was $12. If the food was well seasoned, this could have easily been a 5* meal! I felt the prices were fair for the portion sizes given. Would I try them again?...
Read moreOrdered from them at a food truck roundup. Wife had the OG pulled pork sandwich. She though it was really good, a little sweet and a little too much meat for her, but really tasty. I got the sides from her sandwich of noods and collard greens. The collard greens were really good, a lot of vinegar tang. The star to me was the noods. Really nicely cooked, and the flavoring was amazing. Would...
