Bajaa Fresh is pretty much the only thing I miss about Akron since moving to Austin, TX. I would crave this place once a week and I still do. Everything I have ever gotten there has been so spot-on. Lengua burrito is my go-to (with the green salsa!). I love how home-y it tastes - the peas and carrots that are (usually) mixed into it give it a great flavor. The sopes are also great. The cuban sandwich, a favorite of my boyfriend, is killer. Its HUGE and the meat is so flavorful and tender and the bread is just so soft and fresh. The fish / shrimp soup was another favorite of his. So spicy and also tastes so great like a home-cooked meal! Tacos are also great of course. I had some fajita-like steak with vegetables once too, sorry idk what it was called, but they have a photo of it over the counter and it was also so darn good and a great alternative when I was eating keto. Service was always friendly, especially Victor who also usually cooked our food for us. He was the man and always made us feel welcome and made our food just right. Bring your cash (cash only) and don't be too turned off by the neighborhood - this place is well worth the trip. How do I now live in TX and I have yet to find a burrito I love as much...
Read moreThis is sincerely one of my favorite restaurants in the world. The tacos are among the best I've ever had, and the shrimp tacos (+ spicy peppers) are far and away my dad's favorite meal.
I'm partial to the chorizo tacos (far better than La Loma's, or anywhere else around for that matter), but everything that I've had has been excellent. Hell, they do good chicken tacos. I can't say I've ever had a good chicken taco prior to eating here, but they somehow manage it.
The people are amazing. If you order semi-frequently, the family (it's a family-run shop) will likely recognize your face and treat you as though you're a friend they haven't seen in a while. The owner/chef greeted me, shook my hand, and made fun of my & my dad's penchant to add habaneros to our tacos literally every time that I came in. The rest of the family/staff are incredibly kind as well!
Can't wait until I'm back in town to visit again.
Give this place a try -- they deserve it as much as anyone in the Akron area, and the food is well...
Read moreThis is the most authentic Mexican taqueria. It’s not much on atmosphere and decore but the food is very authentic. I’ve been searching for a taqueria like this for a long time here in Akron. I lived in Santa Cruz CA for three yrs and had excellent taquerias. You won’t find mounds of lettuce or puréed refried beans here. They have tongue, tripe, cheek tacos as well as al pastor, carnitas, etc. they were all excellent especially the tripe and tongue. These are tacos you don’t find any else. They also have menudo which is a geat value for the amount of tripe it includes. I wasn’t a big fan of the actual flavor but it was good enough. Next time I’m doctering the broth with my own menudo broth I can make...
