Look this was never even supposed to end up being a review which is why you'll notice that all the food has been dug into lol. So a bit of back story I went to this restaurant quite a few years ago and my first experience was kind of meh. The burger was okay at best, the fries were extremely salty, and the lemonade was watered down. This place is called Gyros Cafe. Now about a month ago on a Friday just like today I was scrolling through Door Dash (I'm still boycotting Uber Eats) looking for something different to try and enjoy my Friday night (Disclaimer I did not eat all this in one sitting this was a meal I split for 2 days lol). Well I came across them and decided it's been a very long time since I've had them let's give them another try. So I did! Yall look here I sampled everything while it was hot and yes everything showed up piping hot. The bacon Cheeseburger was amazing flavors balanced cooked just right like honestly no notes. 9/10 The wings were shockingly good. At first glance you think oh overcooked. But they weren't! They were seasoned well with a great crunch and the ranch was killer! 8/10 I'm sure the mozzarella sticks are just frozen but idk what brand they use or they may actually make them fresh. Either way they were so good and everything I look for in a good mozzarella stick. The marinara sauce was pretty good too! 9/10 Lastly the seasoned cheese fries. Guys they weren't salty at all this time. Cheese could have been a bit better but it still gets a really good score of a 7.9/10 I highly recommend you go try Gyros Cafe in Chalkville/Trussville area. Whatever they have done from then to now they have done a complete 180 and whoever is in charge and working in that kitchen are doing a great job. Not gonna lie I want to order this again right now lol!

Gyros Cafe & Restaurant is a fantastic spot offering an authentic Mediterranean dining experience in Birmingham, AL. From the moment you walk in, the welcoming and cozy ambiance sets the tone for a great meal. The restaurant’s decor, menu layout, and organized service counter make ordering smooth and inviting. The food was absolutely delightful! The falafel plate paired with creamy hummus showcased fresh, vibrant flavors, and the drizzle of olive oil with a sprinkle of paprika added a perfect touch. The attention to detail in both presentation and taste is impressive. The dessert, with its rich and warm spices, was the ideal way to finish the meal—truly comfort food at its finest. Additionally, the staff was friendly and attentive. They were happy to guide us through the menu and ensured our dining experience was seamless and enjoyable. The restaurant also maintains a clean and inviting environment, evident from the well-organized counter and spotless dining area. Gyros Cafe is a must-visit for Mediterranean food lovers, whether you’re in the mood for a quick bite or a leisurely meal. Highly recommend their falafel and hummus combo—it’s a burst of authentic flavors that will leave you craving more.

Disappointed 😞. Ordered the lunch special gyro. My tiny onion was dried out. Poor cherry tomato would have felt alone but had plenty of company being mixed up with the rice and salad because the girl behind the counter was too busy goofing off with kitchen staff to pay attention to my bag. Flavor: meat a bit dry and sliced too think, salad dressing a little too much vinegar for my taste (and I love vinegar), wild rice was excellent. Great mint tea option and baklava was perfect. Overall, think if staff cared more- this could have been a great meal but was ruined by distracted, uncaring staff. I recommend dine in only the. Box yourself if you want it to go. After reading other recent reviews, seems all are in agreement. Suggest owner change to drink hut and stop selling food. Many good reviews about drinks but consistent complaints on food due to staff. Other options are to pay for experienced staff and stop hiring kids

Not to go Gordon Ramsay on this place but come on, your name is "Gyros Café" and it's nearly impossible to find a Gyro on the menu when you look at it. Perhaps it's necessary in the south to have your menu littered with American dishes like baked potatoes and burgers and omelets in order to stay in business but it violates every principle of specialization. To be clear, this place doesn't make "Gyros" like you'd think, they make gyro wraps which after settling on, actually turned out pretty good. Not sure if you can pick different meats but the menu doesn't exactly provide any option other than the standard lamb but it was good. The baklava was good, the phyllo was very flaky. They need to narrow their menu and focus on Greek food and expand their gyro offerings, actually listed on the menu by section with a variety of different meat options and flavors like a pesto chicken gyro, chicken with tzatziki, steak with basil pesto, chicken with Caesar salad, chicken with roasted red pepper, avocado, hummus and basil pesto. That kind of variety is what I expect of a Gyro café. Make some changes and this place would...
