The minis and the longer churros that are two for five are AWESOME AND SERVED HOT. They were so good I almost wept. The minis I got plain with a side of dulce de leche. The large ones I got one filled with Nutella and the other with plain caramel. The plane Carmel was rich and sumptuous. Had a good mouth feel. Gently crisp on the outside and a perfect shade of golden brown. the inside was the perfect combination of warm pillowy and chewy with just the right amount of texture with the filling piped delicately in the center. The Nutella filling was very velvety thick and decadent. You could smell the dark chocolate as you raise the churro to your face. it was that unmistakable fragrance of warm dark chocolate.unfortunately, there was no hazelnut flavor to be found but I was so okay with the end result. The caramel was absolutely brilliant just brilliant. The caramel was warm and silky and upon biting it reminded me of the Cadbury egg commercial where they pull the egg apart and you have that gooey pull that's what I got out of my churro and it was effing fabulous. They also had salted caramel and next time I go I will be getting that. the customer service was absolutely bar none as we pulled up two minutes before 10 on a Wednesday night and with two minutes to close they carefully and graciously and with manners welcomed us and took our order as if we were the only customers as if we were the best customers they treated us very well. So well we will...
Read moreCustomer service was definitely lacking. It’s also an open kitchen (sort of) so you can see the guy with long hair poke and scratch inside his ear and proceed to package churros of course without washing his hands. Before that when I had ordered I asked what the frozen churro was and the lady said it’s the same as the regular churro but frozen. Obviously still confused I asked frozen as in the churro is frozen? She said no it’s the regular churro but with ice cream. I’m staring at her like why couldn’t you just say that. After waiting 30 minutes for our order we finally received it and the 4 dollar upgrade for the frozen churro already wasn’t worth it because the tiny scoop of ice cream was more of a smoothie it was already melted. We definitely had a better experience at the original location which is their food truck. The Instagram page sure made it seem a lot more magical than what it was. Update Came again but used the online ordering system to avoid waiting for 45min and thankfully I checked the order because the two filled churros were not filled and there were no sauces for them. Instead of filling them they just handed me the sauces. I asked why weren’t they filled in the first place and she said because it was an online order. I told her I didn’t choose the option for sauce on the side and she said she just does that for online orders…sigh….So if you want your churros filled basically put a note that says that because they won’t do what...
Read moreStopped by while in the Alamo Heights area. It was a Saturday evening and it was pretty crowded. The line wasn't long, but there were a lot of people waiting outside and they quoted about a 30 minute wait for Churros. It was a long wait, but I wasn't in a rush and they also have a coffee shop which helped kill some time. Staff was friendly and I appreciated their transparency with the wait time before I ordered.
I wanted to try something different, so ordered a Lasso with a peanut butter sauce, cajeta filled churro, and the mini churros. The lasso was bigger than expected, but didn't seem much thinner than a regular churro. The mini churros were about 6 to an order. They were all good, but not as rich of a cinnamon sugar mixture I wanted. For the sauces, I tried the peanut butter, cajeta, and a jelly one. I preferred the traditional plain churro rather than the dipping sauce and filled churros, but that's a personal preference. Next time I'll order the plain churros so won't be distracted by the sauces. Overall, was good and will come back for a...
