Cute little spot, tried the chicken tenders with rice. Chicken was not greasy, tasted great but I didn't like the two dipping sauces. One has a hint of sweetness to it and the other one has a spice to it but I didn't like it either. I don't know what they are because they aren't listed in the menu inside. The rice was cooked perfectly though. We also ordered a small donuts and they come the size if small calamari rings with cinnamon and sugar. I felt they needed some kind of dipping sauce, after eating 3 your mouth just feels a dry so you crave something less sweet to offset them.
I think others will like this restaurant more then me if you prefer the sauces. I'll come back and try the half chicken next time.
The cashier wasn't extremely knowledgeable either. I asked about the special side that's listed by the register and she couldn't tell me what it was. We also made sure to say that it was our first time there and there was no natural explanation of things we should try it recommendations. She was sweet though.
I also went into the bathroom to wash my hands, I could not for the life of me get the sink to work until I understood that it was a sensor activated sink. When I finally got it to turn on, the smallest trickle of water comes out. This makes me question the sanitation of the establishment for when employees wash their hands after...

Read moreI am so excited Thai Bird has opened on Broadway in Alamo Heights. My family has been avid fans of Thai Bird since being introduced to it in Make Ready Market, and we were thrilled to stop by today to welcome them to their newest location.
The rest of my family enjoyed their usual tenders and rice while I partook of the salad, which was a new one for me - it had kale, mango, chicken, and other yummy ingredients and was absolutely perfect. I discovered that the chips served on top made for an excellent salad delivery vehicle.
I also always enjoy their wines on tap. I’ve had a wine card for awhile and today treated myself to a small pour of a nearly $200/bottle Cabernet Sauvignon and then switched to a delicious red from Uruguay at the recommendation of the owner.
We wrapped up our meal with mini donuts which were a lovely treat, especially for my husband who can’t typically have donuts (these weren’t wheat-based and he can’t have wheat).
The decor was great as was the atmosphere and the staff was so very kind. We are so happy to have you here Thai Bird! Here’s to many more...
