Pomodoro’s Greek & Italian Restaurant — Restaurant in Alaska

I don't know if I just ordered the wrong things or came at the wrong day/time but everything about the food let alone the bill was upsetting. I don't have the money to go out and get nice dinners often so I was excited to try Pomodoro for the first time. Using the last of our free spending money after we paid our bills (only $76) Myself and my partner ordered the caramel creamer coffee drink-underwhelming- both in taste and portioning, I do better at home. We ordered the spanikopita, doughy, lacking flavor, heavily greasy. The complimentary breadsticks that came with the manicotti were dry and there were only 3 of them. Olive Garden does better. The manicotti itself was void of flavor and drowning in sauce. My partner has made me better manicotti at home for less. The Gyro dinner plate looked pathetic and unappetizing, the meat consisted of dry strips of flavorless brown, and the pita bread was stale. I'm pretty sure kroger brand tziki sauce is comparable to what was served here. Their "garnishes" were a single banana pepper, a single calamata olive, and a single tomato wedge. Like what? They weren't seasoned or prepared in any special way. After all of this disappointing food my bill is nearly $70 that I will never get back and would've been better off spent on gas. Which would be more gratifying than the meal I just had. Service was great though, hence 2 stars...

What a forgotten gem! This used to be Piccolinos, and for some reason the fickle Eagle River patrons have forgotten how wonderful this place is! I just had the best meal I’ve ever had in Eagle River, Alaska! I had the chicken kebabs and oh my God it was perfect! It came with a whopping side of garlic mashed potatoes and the sautéed vegetable were perfectly done!!! I cannot recommend this restaurant enough! The place was nearly empty, but the atmosphere was so relaxing and romantic! I love the Italian 1960s vibe music, I love the booths that are very private and romantic but I gotta tell ya,..There’s no better meal for delicious food in all of Eagle River bar none! If you’re not supporting this wonderful establishment you are crazy!!! It’s quiet, romantic, and the food is to die for and good portions too! Visiting Alaska and was looking for a restaurant close to my hotel. Decided to go to Pomodoro's for dinner. Although the portion was smaller than I expected and somewhat expensive, the food was very tasty. Ordered the gyro dinner and the meat was delicious and tender and the fries were tasty and crunchy. I savored the meal to my enjoyment and was quite satisfied. The young gentleman, who was my server, was very polite and hospitable and made sure everything was ok. The restaurant was not crowded so I felt a sense of comfort and privacy. Probably a good place for a romantic dinner date. If I am in Eagle River again I might very likely be back...
