Edit - gave them another try. This time i dined in with 2 of my kiddos. We ordered a couple burgers and a sandwich, soups and the salad bar. They offer gluten free buns, bread and pasta! The waiter also made sure to tell me that the soup i ordered had gluten and offered alternatives. I had a mushroom Swiss burger 🍔 and it was very good. I'm still not a huge fan of their soups so next time I'll order a salad instead. Their salad bar is exceptional.

They are trying, they really are but the food is really inconsistent. The first time I went I ordered the tomato basil soup and a Philly steak sandwich. The soup was so salty it was barely palatable. I found that dipping my sandwich into the soup helped and I was very hungry so that's what I did. The meat on the sandwich was burnt, if they cooked it on a broiler, they left it on too long or the temp was too high. The burnt char was over powering and took away from an otherwise delicious sandwich. On the plus side, their meals are generously sized and would make a nice meal with leftovers. The second trip I bought food for 4 people and we got to try a few more items. We chose the salad bar for 3 and a clam chowder. The salad bar is great. Bright fresh and clean. They don't have tables on the dressing but it's easy to tell which one is blue cheese! I really liked the salad. I ordered a French dip, 2 club sandwiches and a meatball sub. My son said his French dip was great. This is his favorite sandwich so I'm very happy he liked it. The portions again were huge! They have raised their prices by $2. My club sandwiche was okay. My critique is : they used overcooked bacon pieces (not strips) and obnoxiously thick slices of underripe tomato, they also used the heel of the bread as the middle pieces which was.so hard and chewy I thought it was a piece of chicken at first. The bread was not toasted. The meats were processed. I don't know what kind of cheese was on the sandwich. The meatball sandwich okay. The bread was soft inside and crusty on the outside. At first I thought the meatballs were just spaghetti meat sauce but then I found a few larger flat "meat chunks" that could be the meatballs. The flavor was good except kinda sweet and less herby . It could have been a little more saucy or maybe served with a small side of marinara. This Sandwich was also massive and I had 1/2 for lunch the next day. It was decent as a cold sandwich too. Now for the clam chowder. đŸ˜„ It was awful. First thing I noticed was it was so think. Like so thick a fork stood up straight. The flavor was nothing like a chowder or clam. It was just gross. We didn't eat it . By the way, for anyone wondering, we took our meal home to eat. I did notify them via Facebook messenger to tell jem about the quality and flavor of the...

I had been wanting to try Sofia’s for a long time, but when we tried to go before we had 5 people and it’s small inside, with 4 four top tables and some bar seating. Yesterday, my husband and I went for lunch. He ordered the BLTA w/ salad bar and I got the Philly Cheesesteak w/ salad bar. Service was great. Our server and the other gentleman were wonderful. They let us sample 2 soups and I was surprised that they have a selection of 6 soups every day. When I ordered my Philly she said that some people like to add jalapeños, banana pepper or peppercini. I added peppercini. The salad bar is AMAZING. I liked the peas, kidney beans, garbanzo beans, imitation crab and pasta salad. They even got my husband balsamic vinaigrette dressing from the back and the other server recommended he also try the Italian dressing and said they usually do Italian/balsamic for Greek salads. We were so full from our salads, we took our full sandwiches to go. Next time we will split one sandwich and each get our own salad bar. They were informative and let us know if we ever get salad to go, they don’t charge by the lbs, same price for the container, so fill up with as much of whatever you want. I figured there would have been an additional charge for me adding peppercinis to my sandwich, but there wasn’t. I love how friendly they were and that they offered recommendations. We will for...

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Hidden Gem That Delivers on Every Front

This family-owned Italian restaurant is exactly what you hope to find but rarely do – authentic food, generous portions, and prices that won't break the bank. From the moment you walk in, you can feel the warmth and care that only comes from a place where the owners truly love what they do.

The portions here are absolutely enormous – come hungry or plan to take home leftovers (which honestly taste just as good the next day). But it's not just about quantity; the quality is outstanding.

The self-service salad bar is a standout feature that sets this place apart. The variety is incredible. You could easily make a satisfying meal from the salad bar alone, but why would you when the main courses are so tempting?

The prices are shockingly reasonable for the quality and quantity you receive. In today's economy, it's refreshing to find a place that prioritizes feeding families well without gouging wallets.

The atmosphere is casual and welcoming. The staff treats you like extended family, and you can tell they take genuine pride in the food they're serving.

If you're looking for pretentious fine dining, this isn't your spot, but If you are looking for delicious Italian food served with heart at prices that won't break the bank this is the...

OMG.. My wife and I flew several thousand miles from Honolulu to Anchorage and stumbled across this small little restaurant with BIG aloha as “Paul” provided the sense of ‘ohana. The Gluten-free option was an ultimate plus and the out-of-this-world salad bar was crazy delicious. My wife had the BLT in “gf” bread and I had the run of the mill spaghetti with marinara sauce. NOTHING
I mean nothing was “run of the mill”
the food was super over-the-top ‘ono (delicious), the service was warm and expedient, and the atmosphere made me feel like I was in a cozy restaurant in Hawaii with local “Jawaiian” music playing in the background. When they served in-house meals in take-out containers
I was a bit surprised, However, once you “attempt” to eat their generous portions
. you have an epicurial epiphany
the portions are so large, your gustatory gallop through the meal leaves a large portion of leftovers
so for your dining convenience, you merely close your take-out and carefully take it home and plan when next you will get to enjoy the rest of your tasty delight at home in your own gastric anticipation. Mahalo, Paul, for the awesome dining experience !! ~ Elena & Keahi (Kaimuki, Hawaii)

My experience at Sophia’s Restaurant compels me to write my first G-Review in a long time. I went to try a new neighborhood restaurant and left not just with a full belly, but better for the experience. Delicious food, generous portions, reasonable prices- and the ambience of a family restaurant that reflects care, intention, attention to detail, and love with all aspects of hosting in a small intimate space. Food is prepared and customers are thoughtfully treated like special guests in one’s house. Both my dining companion and I had the Philly- and salad bar. The fare was top-notch and I’m looking forward to trying other items and enjoying being in a space of a small family restaurant where small details come together well- and in thoughtful creative ways.
