We had some trouble paying our bill. They dropped off the bill to our table and told us to use the little portable terminal at our table to pay.
So we paid our bill and gave our server a nice tip. We continue eating and chatting. Then something was happening on the table behind us. Something to do with pay terminal being swapped. Or paying the wrong bills.
We didn't think we had anything to do with this and were about finished eating. We were about to leave and our server asked if we paid and we said yes. We had enough of a mind to get an email receipt once the transaction was completed.
Well next thing we know the floor manager is double checking everything. I even show her the email receipt from Texas Roadhouse and I even pull up my pending credit card charge for Texas Roadhouse on my credit card app.
Next the manager shows up and sits down at our table and is also verifying everything. I guess we were being blocked from leaving because their table top payment device was not showing we paid.
Not sure what was going on with their system. We got a green light on top of payment device, emailed receipt from Texas Roadhouse, and showed them the pending credit card charge to them.
They should have said have a nice day and sorry for keeping you.
After I left and thought about it more I think they thought we didn't pay. I am a little pissed now that I have time to think about it. We were the third customer that had problems with their system from what I could tell. 2 behind us and then our table.
Our server was nothing but helpful for the whole meal. It was the 2 different managers blocking us from leaving and not accepting proof that we paid. They continued to scrutinize the data that was in front of them saying we paid.
Make sure you get an email receipt from that payment device so you have something to show the staff.
Texas Roadhouse you need to train your staff better. There is a time stamp on my receipt, it has the server's name and other details that show I had paid.
Bottom line I felt like if I wanted to leave I was going to have to get very unpleasant. Is it worth $115 dollars to piss off your customers? It is clearly a problem with your table top...
Read moreSage the bartender deserves a special shout out and 10 stars. My husband and I had dinner at the bar this evening to watch the jets v chiefs game with some margs.
Sage, and her co-tender Berly, both helped us. The bar was full and busy but the girls did an excellent job keeping up with the crowd.
To the right of my husband was a man by himself who ordered a tall draft beer. Sage asked if he wanted food and he declined but she reminded him of the menus nearby and told him to give a shout if he needed anything before he needed another drink.
Said man was 1/3 through his beer and grabbed a menu, then slammed it down. My husband and I both thought he was angry about the football game. Shortly after, he slammed his wallet down as well. It’s been maybe 10 minutes since he got his beer.
Sage was walking on the outside of the bar delivering some food to the right of the man and he aggressive stopped Sage in her tracks with loud words. He shouted and waved around saying how poorly they’d done serving him and how much better they were treating the people around him. I’m keeping it short but it was enough antics for both my husband and another man to turn a cautious eye to the angry guy demanding his tab from sage, pushing his cash at her.
Needless to say, Sage remained incredibly calm and respectful. She held herself with a lot of professionalism, more than I probably would have had back in my food service days. She gave the man his change which he ripped away after quickly chugging his 2/3 beer and he stomped out. She never cracked. Went right back to her duties and kept calm and kind. Berly, her co-tender was close by to make sure she was alright and things were good. Great vibes and teamwork.
Formerly being in the food service industry, it’s really hard to take it to the chin with such elegance like that. My Husband and I plan on going back soon and I hope we get both of them again at the bar.
Managers - please give those girls both a high-five!...
Read moreThis is the first and only time in my life that I’ve made the effort to write a review about any restaurant but this experience at the Texas Roadhouse on Old Seward Highway in Anchorage, Alaska must be noted. The service was poor and the steak was ruined.
The meal began with a side dish salad I ordered. Our waiter never appeared again after dropping off some bread before the salad. When the salad was delivered by someone different, there was no silver ware. There had been none on the table when we sat down. That got fixed after I had to go to the cash register to find someone.
I had ordered a prime rib medium with steak fries. It took a very long time to be delivered. It was reddish pink across the surface. That’s not medium. The steak fries were not delivered at all. I waited a few minutes for some wait staff to appear that I could signal. None ever did. I went to the cash register again to find someone I could ask to help.
A manager came by and I explained. He was all about trying to make things right. We agreed that a chef could bake the steak just a minute or two and fix the problem. When the manager returned with the steak about ten minutes later, it was charred to a crisp on the outside and overcooked throughout. At this point I gave up and pretended to be satisfied just to end the saga.
My wife, who enjoyed her steak salad, minded me afterward that the last time we ate there, more than a year ago, the same thing happened but with a different cut of meat. The steak I ordered came out way more rare than medium and when it came back the second time it was badly overcooked. I’ve learned my lesson.
I'm not going to post this anywhere else on line but you desreve to know, so you can fix...
