I'm not sure if I've ever posted anything for Five Points Public House. If I didn't, I should have before now. Our last visit was especially above par. First off let me say the food has always been great. Each dish they serve has a unique flavor. EVEN the collard greens had a flavor I haven't tasted before. That's saying a lot considering I was raised by mountain people. About the only thing I'xe tasted there that's run-of-the-mill was the fried okra. I only mention that for full disclosure.
But the good food is not the only reason our last visit was above par. The waitress was just wonderful. (I wish I could remember her name.) Most waitresses do whatever they can to be helpful, but also to move things along to get you out the door. It was so nice that evening to have a wairess that worked at timing everything out so we could enjoy ourselves. We already knew what we wanted and ordered. But did our waitress just throw the order in just to get it quick and get us gone, NO. She brought our drinks first AND THEN GUESS WHAT! VIOLA! Our piping hot appitizer showed up like magic. THEN that wasn't enough. She said, "I'll let you work on that a while before I put your order in." Folks it can be the little things that make stuff nice. Now in the mean time get this, the place had filled to the brim. They were slammed packed in a matter of 30 min. Did I say it was good there. Anyway, our waittess did not forget us. Our order came out in a timely manner in spite of everyone having to run around like crazy. The manager was fighting to keep his head above water. The other waitresses helped each other out. Our waitress also had a large group to attend to but she kept up with us. AND bless her heart, she still kept a pleasant personality through it all. I think she even waited for us to ask for the check. AND right before I handed her my card to pay, she showed up with the chocolate cake I ordered to go. I thought she had forgotten. She didnt forget. She was just doing it right on time.
Our waitress and the others did such a fine job, especially with the crowd that rolled in there, I had the hostess reel the manager in so I could brag on his staff...
Read moreFirst time coming here and must say it was an interesting experience. I'm new to this area and was referred here from a friend saying the food was good. When I arrived it was pretty busy so I assumed either there isn't decent restaurants around or the food was thar good. I hoped the food was that good. My food was terrible, but the other person in my party had really good food. So first I'll start by saying that I had TJ as my waitress. She was very nice, but seem like she was slammed. So this part of the review I'm not completely upset about. But I found it weird that they were out of baked potato and let someone order it before telling them they were out. A big reason I didn't get the steak was because their side selection is terrible. Is like mainly starches. And you want us to pay 3 dollars for a side salad when the steak is already 26 dollars. I would hope they would include make sides like corn, mac and cheese, and mash potatoes. Not just fries, oinion rings, fried ocra, broccoli, and baked potato. That turned me away from the steak. I will say the fried pickles were amazing. They aren't heavily breaded and they gave us a ton. We couldn't even finish a full plate. I will say I was pretty pissed off on how nasty my blackened hicken Alfredo was. I haven't had chicken Alfredo in years because it's usually so caloric dense. But I figured hey this place should have a good one. I was wrong. The pasta literally tasted like I ate the healthy choice frozen chicken Alfredo and they put some grilled chicken on top. The chicken was good. Everything else was nasty. The bread tasted like some frozen great value bread. I will never order that again. I don't think I would ever go back based on that experience. I just kind of shocked for my whole experience. Crazy to think I spent almost $100 in this establishment and my main course tasted like some cheap frozen meal. And this is why I'm rating them 3 stars. The staff and the atmosphere was nice. But the food in my opinion is terrible. I wouldn't recommend it. I hope your experience I way better...
Read moreAte dinner here about a month ago with friends for the first time and it was amazing. Everything we got was perfect and we all loved the french fries. My husband and I went back a few weeks ago for lunch and it just as good. He got the turkey club which he really liked. I got the Sloppy Joseph and it was good but I wouldn't order it again. Yesterday my husband and I and the friends from the first visit ate dinner here. We were so excited to come back since our previous visits were so good. Now we love the decor and the servers were great. I ordered Blackened Salmon and it was really good and the fried okra and baked potato was perfect. My husband got the turkey club again and his fries were cold. My friends got a burger which they liked but their fries were cold as well. Like they had been sitting out for a while and not fresh. We also ordered the Pretzels for an appetizer and they were cold on the bottom. We ordered another order of them and they were cold as well. Like warm on top but ice cold on the bottom. We told the waitress about it and also the manager came over to apologize. We didnt bother to say anything about the fries being cold because we didnt want to seem like we were complainers and my food was very hot. Also the Cherry Lemon Sundrop Martini is very very good :). But we will be back because it is a cool little place to go. We dont live in Albermarle - so it's about an hour drive for us to go there. I would definitely recommend it though because it is...
