Hilltop Seafood Co. — Restaurant in Albemarle

Went on a Sunday with out of town friends for crab. We were told it was 20%off and some of the legs may be broken which was fine. Total bill was over 100.00 ( which was fair for crab ) but when the crab arrived at the table there were no broken whole crab legs but the tiny ends of the crab leg. Almost all of what was brought out were these tiny little meatless ends. We brought this politely to Makayla’s attention and shared this really was not acceptable. We voiced that we were very loyal customers and shared how we have enjoyed Hilltop many many times over the last six years but made it very clear this was not acceptable. We asked if they could bring us something else as this was not eatable and had no substance. They agreed but then failed to bring us anything. When I asked Makayla she shared she phoned the owner and the owner did not want to help rectify this bad experience. They refused. Very sorry to say that this experience was so bad that I likely in good conscience will not go back. If I had to guess I likely spend 700.00 to 1K here in a year. Very friendly If you go to hilltop seafood be careful. I just spent almost 80 dollars on two boils. And had to tell the girl behind the counter 3 times what each bag got. And then literally drew on her paper lines and described it to her. Got home and literally one bag had everything in it and the other just had shrimp and a couple mussels and 1 piece of corn. Started messaging the manager through squareup. Told us they were going to fire the girl and then told me I wrote the order myself which I didn't and I explained that. Then told the manager I had to separate the bags and fix them myself and i shouldn't have to for the money I paid. They came back at me with this. Then when I said that came off rude they said sorry you feel that way it wasn't rude. But then went on to say her employee could've been having an off day and didn't hear me. FOUR TIMES I REPEATED THE ORDER! I didn't want a refund or anything just to let them know and to try and be more observant and got the worst customer service ever....

Where have we been!? A gem is waiting for you in downtown Albemarle. We went last night for a crab boil and the kids had a blast. Quite the experience. The crab legs snapped and pulled well, and the shrimp was well done not chewy. I will definitely be back for the crab cakes and salmon. You can dine in or carry out. The place was clean and considering they have fresh fish, no smell which was awesome. If you like seafood, don’t walk, run to this place! If I could offer only a few suggestions- The butter for the crabs needs to be salted and the canned sodas and water for 2.50 felt like a rip.
