Goody Shop Cafe — Restaurant in Albemarle

If you are a local you probably already know this. If you are searching the web trying to find a great place to eat that has that authentic old timey cafe feel and awesome food you must try The Goody Shop. The burgers are made fresh. Not like those thin frozen patties that we have grown accustomed to these days. Hugh (owner and super cook) makes BIG burgers. If you are really hungry you can ask for a Goody Burger they are HUGE. If you have not eaten in a week get a Double Goody Burger it is so big you have to bite from the top to the middle then the middle to the bottom. They make their own chicken salad it is absolutely fabulous. They have lots of requests for chicken salad dishes it goes pretty quickly. They do run out since it is made fresh so get there early. Wow! Didn’t realize they served oatmeal until this morning, I was on my way to work and was going to stop by McDonalds for their oatmeal and saw cars out to the road….I said not today! So I called the Goody Shop and took a chance. Asked them if they serve oatmeal and she said, “yes, that they have brown sugar”. That’s all I needed to hear. I ordered it and OMG!!! I couldn’t believe how good it was and it’s sooooo biggggg!!! I have just a little bit left that I put in my fridge. It lasted me for hours 😂 😂…..until lunch. Hey I’m loving it! Staple of the Albemarle community. The food and service has always been excellent. That being said, there's absolutely no reason 5 years after the government scamdemic that any restaurant should be take out only. Who wants to pack up get in their car, decide where you're going to eat, get there and be told take the food somewhere else too eat? Food's way too expensive these days to have to sit in your car or drive to a park to eat food you just paid handsomely for. God help you on a rainy day, you and your food will be soaked while you look for somewhere to eat. Just shut the doors...
