Not impressed with this place. I knew going in that it was pretentious, given their use of "truffle oil". ("Truffle Oil" should always be set in quotation marks in the United State, since s there is seldom, if ever, any actual truffles present in said oil.) Additionally, their prices are quite high, especially given the size of the servings. The outdoor seating was nice until the sun came out; a simple tarp would have made it much more enjoyable. But, back to the food... The pizza crust was nice, thin and just-so-right chewy, but the toppings were both too much and too little. (They were too largely chopped to be just right.) The calzone was cooked well with good cheese to filling ratio, but too little marinara, and too dry without it, so a bit of a disappointment. And the Strawberry Gorgonzola salad - who thought this was a good idea? The dressing was said to be an orange-raspberry vinaigrette, but no vinaigrette would ever be that thick. Tasty, yes, but vinaigrette, no. And gorgonzola cheese with strawberries? The cheese overwhelmed the strawberries and the spinach, and the dressing was no help. The staff was great, the ambiance was nice (tight, but nice), but overall I'd pick Il Vicino, Scarpas or even (not my favorite) Farino Alto over here any day. Sorry, but it missed the...
Read moreI do not understand how anyone who has eaten here could write a glowing review. We had pizza 2 salads and our daughter had the mac and cheese with gelato for dessert. The mac and cheese was good. The gelato tasted exactly like bryers homade vanilla ice cream in every way. Our pizza was flat dough no airiness to it. The crust was hard and dense, the price was very high for a pie that scarpa's, dion's, il viccino, or farina all make better at a lower price. The pizza at chucky cheese is very similar to the style pie they make here, but better. The salad was very very dry lettuce not rinsed The lettuce that was dry and getting that dry white color on the veins of the leaves.
Our waitress over charged us on 2 items, we forgave 1 and she told us that "the manager would let it go this once" for a happy hr salad that we checked to make sure would make the happy hr, it was even printed on the receipt as a happy hr item but we were charged full price. . I will never eat at this place again. The couple across from us had a similar experience - 2 people 1 pie and they only ate a slice each. Technically this is pizza. My experience was horrible, I found the staff to be insulting since they made the errors on our check and then took a condescending...
Read moreWhere to start. Probably with the service. Our server was terrible. She didn't know the answer to hardly any of our questions. She would just kinda stare at you, like her brain wasn't computing that words were exiting from your mouth. Or she was ignoring you as she chatted up her co-workers. It took FOREVER for our food to get ready. We actually had to rush to eat once we got it because of how close it was to closing time. It wasn't super packed or anything but I bet we waited for our pizza for close to an hour. We watched our pizza sit on the counter for 8-10 minutes before our server finally made an appearance and brought it to us. She never came back to see if we needed refills or if the food was okay. This is supposed to be an italian restaurant and there was no balsamic, no parmesan cheese. Zip. We had been finished for another 10+ minutes and the server still had not come back. One of the other employees saw us looking at her as she chatted at the hostess desk and went to tell her we were waiting for her to bring our check. I even heard the couple sitting behind us talking about how terrible she was. As far as the food goes: we ordered a Margherita pizza. Let's just say Little Caesars could have...
