So initially I was going to only give two stars but I'll explain later in the review why I did three instead. First off the atmosphere is clean and airy feeling , though wish they would run fans or have a bug zapper inside since the meal with being interrupted by a fly and gnat . But the register guy was friendly , accommodating and professional . Now to the taste of the food originally I was giving it two stars because I wasn't impressed . I ordered two barbacoa tacos and revieved meat like Carne asada ( I thought maybe it was just their style or something which is why I am adding a star I should have confronted them and asked if I recieved the right meat because upon further looks on others pictures it seems they barbacoa is shredded and tender looking nothing like what I recieved ) , but anyways what I thought was their weird attempt at barbacoa ( probably Carne asada) was lacking in flavor and obviously was super disappointed because it was nothing like barbacoa. It wasn't the right cut of meat or flavor . We also ordered the Chilaquiles with again the asada which was underwhelming in flavor the sauce was bland and even the guacamole didn't have a fresh taste. The salsa was good though. Over all still edible we still finished our food since we have no money to waste . We also ordered the quest birria tacos which ehh where okay but again no punchy flavor just kindof mid. The tacos itself was lacking meat and the bold birria sauce we all know and love . The consome and salsa made the food less boring to eat though. Overall wouldn't go back unless I can get a retry of the barbacoa I asked and paid for and recieved asada instead. But I do take responsibility for that I should have asked when it was nothing like barbacoa but I was just thrown off by the lack of the flavors I just assumed maybe they had some new way of it I wasn't aware of. 😅 . On another not the pickled onions were...
Read moreI have been on the hunt for some good fish tacos and decided to try this place out and brought some friends. I'll start with my order... I got the fish tacos. They looked beautiful when they arrived to the table. $14 for 3 tacos that were piled HIGH with slaw, and big pieces of fish. You definitely get a lot of food. The flavors were there but execution was flawed. Within less than 5 minutes they were getting really soggy. I LOVED the first 3 bites, but like i said, it started getting really soggy. I did have to remove a good chunk of slaw off the tacos, as it was really overwhelming. These tacos started to get unappealing by mid 2nd taco as they were WET. You definitely need to eat these super fast and unfortunately I am not a fast eater. I had to force myself to eat them quickly. Maybe less slaw, or double the tortillas so they dont fall apart, and some pickled onions would go great with them! I also ordered the corn, and that was Delicious! Perfect size cup for the money. One friend got the burrito bowl(she liked it), and my other friend got birria tacos(his only complaint was he wanted more cheese in them. But really did enjoy them!) All in all we will be back and maybe I'll give the fish tacos a try again but have the slaw on the side and a side of...
Read moreIf you’re looking for foodie-worthy tacos, give RioTacos on Alameda a try. They have excellent tacos and burritos, and while I was there they were hand making their own tortillas and they grill Al Pastor on a trompo. You also HAVE to try the salsa, it’s delicious. Every item is very flavorful (I had asada, barbacoa and al pastor tacos and my husband had an asada burrito) and you can really taste the high quality. It’s a fast casual setup - you order at the counter and they bring your food, and the restaurant has a modern, clean ambiance. You can order some tacos individually but others only come in 3-plates like the seafood and birria. The individual tacos are listed as street tacos but are a good size and well filled with meat. The owner is friendly and kind and came to our table to check on us. It was also toddler friendly and they made an off menu kids quesadilla for him. The horchata is very good and cinnamon-y and comes in a glass without ice (there is ice at the drink fountain but they fill it to the top). This means that a large is a LOT of horchata. The tres leches sells out often but is among the best I’ve had in ABQ. I feel like there’s a shortage of food options in the N Valley so am excited for this newer restaurant. Give them a try if you’re...
