If I could give 0 stars I would. Yesterday myself and some friends went into Oak Tree Cafe for lunch. One of my friends was ready before me and went to order their food. Then there were 2-3 customers then myself. My friend has severe allergies and asked the cashier about what kind of oil they used and a few other questions around her allergies. The chef (maybe owner) came out from the kitchen to answer the questions because the cashier was not certain and stated she did not want to give false info. After my friend asked the questions she discovers she cannot eat there and asks to cancel the food order and still orders a drink. After my friend leaves the register area, the chef (maybe owner) goes back to the register and starts talking to the cashier and next customers stating things like āif you have that many allergies you need to stay homeā and āthereās flour everywhere itās ridiculous for someone to go out thinking a restaurant can accommodate everythingā. And ends with āoh I should watch my mouthā and walks away laughing. It was extremely unprofessional. I spoke with my friends about what I just saw and we all decided to go somewhere else due to this event. I will not go back to this establishment nor will I recommend this place to anyone. Itās one thing to not be able to accommodate your customers, but then to mock them for their allergies to other customers is a line that...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOutstanding family owned and operated business! Over the many years Iāve been coming to Oak Tree Cafe I can honestly say that Iāve never had a meal I didnāt love. The food is consistently high quality, and delicious. I typically order whatever the daily special that they are offering but honestly you canāt go wrong with anything on their diverse menu. The sandwiches are mouthwatering. The salads are always refreshing and are usually large enough to have leftovers. The dining area is always clean and well-equipped for gatherings family or casual business meetings. They also have a great patio with a view of the majestic Sandia mountains. As for drink options they offer a full line of premium fountain sodas and several beers are always on tap.
Perhaps more impressive than the food is the service. This is a family owned and operated establishment and you can feel the love and care from the moment you walk in the door. You can almost always spot the husband / wife / daughter trio working tirelessly to ensure a great experience. Always with a warm smile and kind disposition. If you are a regular they will typically address you by name. This is a rare occurrence in the post-Covid world we live in.
This restaurant is a 30 minute drive for me but itās always worthwhile. I canāt recommend this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe got there right after they opened. I ordered coffee and she said there might be some that she made an hour and half ago but shrugged her shoulders, said she wouldnāt make more if there wasnāt any. There wasnāt creamer and when I asked for some she seemed shocked and annoyed and said she maybe had some non-dairy somewhere but maybe the kitchen had milk.
We got our sandwiches and my friendās looked pretty decent and he liked it okay. My Philly was not good. Soggy bread, meat was way overcooked and tough, veggies were yuck, green chile was pathetic. We both got coleslaw and laughed when we tasted it because it was very sweet and super saucy, drowning it seemed. Not our thing.
We sat at the furthest table from the counter and yet clearly heard the cook (owner?) yelling from the kitchen to converse with customers in the dining room over and over again, dominating the entire space with his voice. It was weird and annoying.
They seem to have their regulars and Iām glad to see a locally owned place be around for so long but Iāll...
