Really good burgers... but over-priced. And the side of fries always leaves you wondering if they ran out. Why skimp on the cheap fried potatoes?
The Duke City is OK, but I really prefer to get the Classic Mustard... minus the mustard plus green chile. 🤷♂️ It more ability to customize than other burgers. Seems I don't like the sautéed onions. I prefer raw onions. And I'll take any actual cheese over "American" cheese-product any day. Plus, you can't get lettuce or tomato on the Duke.
The Hot Mess is good, but as the name eludes to, it's a mess and it's not small. No explanation as to what a "Hangover Smash Burger" is. Finally saw a description on a board when I picked up an order. Took a picture and posted it, but having it on the online menu would be nice.
Seems sometimes you get tasty crispy fries, other times, very very plain flavorless fries. I wish the site would say. I'd just skip them anyway. You never get much.
The one thing to be weary of when you order is the hours. The site will take an order 24/7 and doesn't have an obvious warning. I've accidentally ordered for 2 hours in the future twice now when I was expecting right away. Doh! 🤦♂️ I just waited and showed up later. Then there's times they will just close early without warning. That's always fun to show up and see they place is closed. Looks like you need to search for dinner elsewhere that night. The midweek days and times almost seem random.
I USED TO like this place that much more because when you ordered online, it WAS one of the few places that wouldn't surprise you with a tip-ask upon checkout. So I was just peacefully ordering, thinking they took care of their employees. Now I'm not sure what was going on. It asks for tip now. Was I shorting the employees?!? 😬 Since this location's online ordering disappeared and came back, now it's back with a tip surprise upon checkout. I hate NOT to tip, but I'd rather go to a place that raises its prices to pay employees and doesn't ask for tips than the place that waits until I'm checking out to ask me to add 15%, 20%, or 25% ... for take-away.
I'm going back to my other favorite burger place even though it's 7 minutes farther from home, but it's more,...
Read moreStackers Burger Co. is a counter-serve smash/grease burger place located in the 505 Central Food Hall in downtown Albuquerque.
If you’re looking for a smash burger in a relaxed food hall this option is a great choice! The fries are lightly spiced and the burgers are delicious.
I had the Classic Mustard Grilled Cheeseburger, which included two halal smash burger patties, American cheese, grilled mustard, lettuce, tomato, pickles, and onions on a butter-toasted local brioche bun. I added bacon, which was a great addition.
There are 11 different add-on options: avocado, bacon, a fried egg, green chile, crispy haystack onions, sliced American cheese, sliced pepper jack cheese, shredded mozzarella, queso blanco, fried chicken, or an added beef patty.
The owners of Stackers also own Kukri Chicken, another option in 505 Central. Kukri is also halal.
Overall, a great choice!...
Read moreFood truck lot: We arrived in the evening and it was pretty dead partially due to cold weather. It is okay to go during the day and the locale management is constantly working on more areas to eat. At Stackers: The person taking our order was friendly but didn't really know what the sauces were? He just mentioned that, "they are the ones my boss makes". We ordered food nonetheless. The burger meat was certainly fresh looking and tasted pretty good. Pretty comparable to other smash burgers. The green chile had a tiny bit of bite but not really too much. The fries seemed like the frozen seasoned fries that you can find at other places. Fry sauce was good. I like supporting food trucks but pricing is certainly high. Approx $40 for a...
