Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Alcoa

Not a good experience at all at the Applebee's in Alcoa, TN. Too many issues to list with the food and service but I will share a few that customers need to be aware of.

All issues were brought to the managers attention who didn't really seem to care. He did refund my wife's meal (untouched) since they could not find a way to get anymore Alfredo sauce prior to the rest of the party being finished with dinner. This is after she had tracked down our waitress (around mid meal) who still had not put in the request for Alfredo sauce.

We thought that was the end of our issues, it was time to leave.

Unfortunatly, we could not find our waitress to pay. After some time, I eventually find another waitress and ask her to let me pay my check so we can leave. She happily agreed and I handed her my check and card. She then comes back with a receipt where she charged me for the entire party instead of the check I had handed to her.

I asked to see the manager again. I explained and ask him to fix the incorrect charge (we are talking well over $100 in over charges). He agreed but then seemed to struggle to get the order correct with me detailing everything we ordered.

He said he had credited back to my card and wadded up all of the charge slips and attempted to take them. I objected and told him I wanted to keep them in case their incorrect charge didn't get credited.

I also ask for a receipt to show the incorrect charge was credit and he told me he can't print that.

Maybe that's true but he couldn't explain why. He kept explaining that it will come off my card in 2-3 days. I asked for some type of receipt for the credit but he simply restated that he couldn't do that.

I ask if there is a regional manager. He said, "Yes, his information is on the front door."

We all make mistakes. Our waitress did apologize for hers and it was appreciated.

The manager never apologized for the overcharge, poor service and definitly not for the rudeness of telling me to get the Regional Managers information from the door.

Admittedly, I have never been a manager in the hospitality industry but I think I met the source of many issues at this location.

Hope I get credited back. I do have his promise at least (sarcasm) even if he did refuse to back it up with a receipt.

As info, when we left the rest of the party was STILL trying to find someone to take their payment. I won't try to list all the issues they were having. I was just happy to be finally...

Decided to go here late one night to get some food and it was a very interesting experience. The person who seated me seemed pleasant and lead me to my table without having to wait around very long. It pretty much went downhill from there however. My server took about 6 minutes to come over even for the initial drink order despite the place being pretty sparsely packed, which I soon found would be an indication of things to come, and seemed either distracted or indifferent to my presence. When my server did come around I had already looked over the menu what I was going to get and was just kind of waiting around. I ordered an oreo milkshake to try them out and I will just let you know now - decadent (from their menu) is not at all what I would describe it as, in fact I would go as far as to say that it only legally classified as a milkshake, as it was absent every other quality that a milkshake should have. I watched it being made and thought it was going to be rough as it was in a blender/mixer thing for 2 minutes - side note: if someone orders something with Oreo in it, one should be able to easily tell that it contains oreos in it, in this case and likely due to its time in the blender there was no discernible pieces and it looked and tasted like chocolate milk with whipped cream on top. Another note, milkshake's should not be warm - not sure they managed that one, needless to say, I only took a few sips of the shake. I tried their chicken fajitas and surprisingly they were good, even though it is really more like a fajita bowl as fajitas should not have queso or rice there. Regardless, this was the highlight of the experience. The server came by to check on me once after dropping off the food to fill up my water as I was not touching the shake but quickly left to attend to something else in the back. After the meal I waited about 10 minutes before seeing the server to get the check and pay for the meal, overall I was not very impressed with the service. Here is a breakdown of my thoughts leading to the rating:

Final thoughts: I probably had a bad one off experience and imagine if you go during lunch/dinner hours instead of 10pm like I did, you will probably fare much better, but please stay away from...

I went out to eat to this restaurant my server was absolutely rude talking over me while I ordered my food then I received my order completely wrong and server was mad because I said I’m sorry I ordered this burger without lettuce I sit and ate my side item while waiting the whole time for them to make my burger over she continued to be rude and would not refill my WATER! So male manager gave me a card for payment of my entire order so I returned a month or so later with the card and ordered ribs and burger which ended up totaling more than card trying to give them another chance because me and fiancé was doing a take out night once again my burger had lettuce and they had to remake it but only took 2 minutes once home i realized they just scraped the lettuce off and burger tasted as if it had been made hours before hand when I live 10 minutes away… Next day I woke up at 4am in the morning with a horrible sickness so I decided to go to hospital and they told me I had food poisoning so I decided after my ER trip to call about this and spoke with a manager named Pam which I knew her because I previously worked there years before and obviously I left this job on bad terms because she was extremely rude and unprofessional to all her employees, she told me that there was no way my food poisoning came from the restaurant that it takes 24 or more hours (FALSE— I work in healthcare now) so said she would speak with another manager and return my call the next day, she did not return my call so me or any of my family will not be returning! Absolutely worst restaurant on alcoa hwy and that’s saying something considering all the fast food restaurants near it! Management staff and food is absolutely horrible if you don’t want to be sick go anywhere but there! And please find other employment unless you want to be called stupid...
