Ive been coming here since I was a little girl, & only in my adulthood did i realize how much of a prick the owner is. First things first, the food is really good. I cant lie about that. However, when getting TO-GO, the owner becomes extremely rude & is very strict about how much food is in the to-go box. If the box cannot close, he will scream at you & begin freaking out, & then will not allow you to purchase. This isnt an exaggeration - the man will LITERALLY scream at you for whatever reason, causing a huge scene in front of other people. Today, I came to get myself & my boyfriend a To-go plate ( one for each of us ). Upon walking up to check out, I realized they had smaller bowls for to-go use. I asked for one, & he starts saying "Why? Why? Why, huh?" To be honest, his aggressive nature caught me off gaurd, & all I could say was "I dont know...". He immediately begins flailing his arms around as he yells at me, "No, You cant have it. Nope. No. You cant even tell me what you want to put in it, so no." & he goes on & on about how he can charge me however much $$ he wants on that to-go bowl if I couldnt give him an answer as to what would go in it. I was seriously shocked at how this man couldnt control his emotions about a stupid to-go bowl. I was so embarrassed that he yelled at me in front of everyone in the restaurant. I couldnt speak anymore, just dropped my head & avoided eye contact as he checked me out. ( As he's checking me out, he is still making a VERY LOUD fuss about many things ). Needless to say, the owner is beyond rude and heartless. I'd call it Verbal Battery if that were a thing. To make things worse, I'm pregnant. So with the heightened emotions of pregnancy, I immediately began crying once I got into...
Read moreNever go back Daughter had foot surgery. Ask to be put out of the way of traffic so she could elevate foot and not get bumped. Put us in the middle of the room. Refused to sit there got up sat in a smaller room with no one in it. Had son sit at separate table so daughter could put foot on seat. Waiter told my 8 yr. old son he could not at separate table when I was not in there. Tried to explain to waiter she had to elevate foot he went to get manager although I think he is the owner. Manager asked if there was a problem tried to explain to him. He shrugged his shoulders. Started eating waiter came into room for other people 3 times would not refill our drinks. Went to manager told him waiter refused to refill our drinks. He said it was not his problem, talk to waiter. Told him I did he told me it was my problem and not his. I told him he was the boss and he is responsible for his employees and he said he was not and he had no problem with his employee. If the manager is not responsible for his employees then who is? He murmured something in Chinese, I asked him what he said and he refused to reply. They try to use the language barrier and play dumb. He was just arrogant and I lost my cool but we asked to be put away from people and did our best explain the situation. All I wanted was an apology or acknowledgement but when he said he was not responsible for his employees. We left without eating hardly anything and having to pay $31 a good manager /owner would cut us a deal or let us go without payment. But I guess you get what you pay for bad service bad food. They have etouffee that was nothing but fake crab meat. Want good Chinese got to Opelousas and eat at the one in the strip mall by...
Read moreFlying Wok is the first Chinese Buffet that I've visited in the area. I want to preface everything I say with the following. I understand that this is a Chinese buffet in a smaller city, so my standards reflect that. The service was fine. Friendly and welcoming staff. The food was not bad, but I've had better from a buffet. Any chicken based food was pretty good and moist. The Chow Mein noodles weren't the best. They tasted more chicken flavored (maybe like Ramen?) and were a bit dry. The sushi tasted cheap (the sushi at the commissary on FT Polk is better), but it was still edible.
The atmosphere was a little run down. The booth we were sitting at had visibly old (rotted?) dry wall. It seems that on the other side of the building had a significant amount of hurricane damage, so im sure an update will come soon.
The overall feeling i get from the food was that it ranges from average to not very good. Nothing was inedible (my opinion), but nothing was super good either. Was it bad? No. Would I recommend it? Yes, I would if all you want is cheap Chinese food. Would i visit again? Also, yes although, it would not be my first choice. I hope this short review helps you make a more informed decision in choosing (or...
