SCAMMED MY CARD WITH 30% TIPS I visited the Union Market location on 22 Dec, it took forever to order with 2/3 slow workers. When it was my turn I ordered the 2+2 BBQ Platter with the brisket and ribs and as you can see how little the portion were. Not to mention it was underwhelming and I am not even from the US but I have had much better BBQ in other countries.
The biggest issue is they have scammed me with unauthorized 30% tips, making my transaction $25.5 when the lady at the counter has confirmed the price is $22 instead. When I was in line, I have seen her using her phone as a tap machine and it is all in Spanish so no one knew what she had done. I specifically confirmed the price before I tapped and yet I checked my bank account the next day and found out they have charged me 30% more. I have left DC so I could not go back, I find it deceiving and frustrating even $3.5 doesn't sound like a lot. If she would have asked for a tip with different options in English, I would have had no problem tipping. If you unfortunately have visited them, CHECK YOUR CARD especially as a tourist.
Update: I called and the owner refunded the unauthorized tips so I do appreciate it. He mentioned it was not intentional which I doubt, the lady asked the person in front for tips (despite the instructions on the phone were all in Spanish) so why did she suddenly forget to ask me, confirmed the total amount with me and then charge the...
Read moreOld Blue BBQ catered our wedding in October 2016, and we could not have asked for a better vendor for the occasion. Kelly and Shannon were fantastic; they kept to our budget, providing guidance and advice, toured the venue with us making suggestions and helping coordinate with the venue owner. The catering staff were great, received nothing but compliments from our guest, especially regarding the food. We had an outside wedding which had to be relocated the day of the wedding to inside the barn because of rain, and Old Blue jumped into action, rearranging the space and turning it into a ceremony location. Shannon arranged for the bridal party to be served a plate of appetizers while the photos were being taken as well as drinks because of the distance from one location to the other on the farm. We had several guests who had various food allergies, and Shannon and the staff went above and beyond, creating new menu items as well as making sure our guests did not have any food issues. Shannon took care of every detail, including taking care of one of the guests -- my mother-in-law -- who had broken her ankle and was confined to a wheelchair. Everything went smoothly from beginning to end, including a fantastic clean up and provided containers with our left-overs which was gratefully accepted by...
Read moreOld Blue BBQ was such an easy decision for our wedding catering! My older sister had used them for her wedding and we were just so impressed with their food, efficiency, organization and generosity, that my family knew we had to use them again! They had never worked at our venue before, however they were proactive and visited/met with the owners of our venue to scope out the space and make sure they were all on the same page. We were so impressed by this and knew we were in such great hands! We completely trusted Old Blue with our wedding, which relieved us from so much stress through the wedding planning process. We worked closely with both Kelly and Kari and they were both so sweet, patient, friendly, creative, fun and accommodating with our many questions and adjustments we made along the way. They were terrific from start to finish. The highlight of Old Blue is their bride share that’s included! They have so much variety of cute decor that fits any style. We received many compliments from guests on how they loved their meals. They were also very accommodating with my groom’s gluten-free needs and one of our guest’s vegan need. We just love Old Blue and plan on picking up their food for regular dinners from now on. Thank you Old Blue BBQ!! (Photo Credit: Mel Kay...
