Rio Rojo Authentic Mexican Food — Restaurant in Alexandria

My husband and I went here for our 14th anniversary. From the moment we walked in, we were treated like crap. We sat down and the waitress that came to us had the nastiest attitude I’ve ever encountered in a restaurant. She asked us what we wanted to drink and we had to repeat ourselves 3 times. She would never look at us. When she came back to ask our order, she was on the phone and when my husband started ordering, she walked away, mid sentence. She came back and we finished the order. We tried to get her attention after she left so we could get a refill. We had to ask a busboy to get her. She came from the back and rolled her eyes and sounded very annoyed. I told her that I just wanted a refill. She literally came back with a pitcher of ice and sat it on our table and walked away. 30 minutes later, still no food. We went outside to smoke a cigarette and literally every worker ran outside behind us and started screaming at us for leaving. We said we were going to smoke. One woman YELLED “YOU NO SMOKE IF YOU NOT PAY” then she walked to the back of our car and took pictures. Keep in mind, we were standing outside of our car by the hood. Still on the sidewalk. That was enough for me. I told my husband to go pay for our drinks and let’s just leave. He went inside to pay and that same woman told him that he had to pay for the food because the order was already placed. He told her we never received any food but he would pay for the drinks. One thing I noticed about this restaurant, they do not speak to black people. Many times I go there the workers will walk by me without even greeting or waiting on me. But as soon as a white customer walk in they are greeted with a smile and is waited on right away. There's only one younger guy that's tall is friendly. I literally have to stand and wait until he sees me to be waited on. Just now I stood there 10 mins at the stand. With multiple workers walking past me. One stood at the stand where I am just standing there waiting and didn't even say hello or how may I help you. It's sad that establishments still act that way towards black people. And the order been ready. I seen it in the kitchen. But because no one would even wait on me, the order sat there 15 minutes. This place need to do better with black people. Would give 0 stars if I could. It took over an hour to get seated, order, eat and check out here. They only had a few other customers there when we arrived and they had already gotten their food so it’s not like they were very busy. The service was slow and barely acceptable at best. Drink refills were only far and few in between. The queso was cold and very bland, along with everything else we had. Also, I don’t believe this place knows basic math seeing as afterwards our bill was $52 for 2 shrimp chimichangas, 2 soft drinks, queso and na his bravos. We looked at the menu this morning and added up everything and added estimated taxes and came up with $41.
