August 27th rereview- I am extremely happy to come back and write a rereview of Gardens on Main. I said I would go back and I am extremely pleased that I did.

This time it was two of us whom decided on a busy Sunday afternoon to go for lunch. We arrived found seats on the patio and I timed the service. 1 minute. It took one minute for Caitlyn to come over and take our drink order and talk to us about her favorites and suggestions. 5 mins later our drinks were on the table.

We then placed our order and food was out in 15 mins. Absolutely perfect and delicious just like I knew it would be. Duck salad is 100% My favorite. My mother got the prosciutto crepes, which she said were absolutely perfect. The crepes are savory and just the right amount of fillings.

This experience was 100% different. I even spoke with Caitlyn about the poor experience previously and she apologized and took the time to talk with us. She explained a few things, thanks us for giving it another chance and was over extremely present.

Caitlyn is a MODEL service employee. She deserves a raise. Absolutely appreciated the kindness and attentiveness she showed us while we dined. She even went as far as to chat with us about their plans for the winter. All in all I have to say I will be back because of the way Caitlyn treated us. I am beyond thrilled. I am going to leave my previous review under this so those can see that change can happen if the establishment believes in themselves and their customers.

Thanks you Caitlyn, I will be back and hope to chat with you again.

AUGUST 16TH- 2 STARS- I thought hard before writing this review. Especially because I am not one to do this. I normally give a few chances before I take to the reviews...but after today I am tired of providing feedback to staff only for it to fall on deaf ears.

I came here 3 weeks ago and had a phenomenal meal and the service was fine. Absolutely was so looking forward to coming back and sharing another fantastic meal with my family...that didn't happen.

Today. I walked in and was told to pick a patio spot. Sat down the 4 of us. 30 mins. 25 mins not a single server came to us. It was not busy. No drinks, no menus no check ins. I am extremely disappointed. Even after I went in and politely let them know we had been waiting quite a while even just for drink order to be taken...I gave them 5 more minutes... 2 staff members sat on their phones...no one came, so the 4 of us left. 30 mins may not seem like a lot, but with hungry children and time being so precious it's not something I waste.

I brought it to the front staffs attention and was told that they had no control over the situation. I wasn't rude, I wasn't aggressive, I simple stated a fact we were leaving due to service. Being in the service industry I would never let a customer walk out the door, I would get management involved right away, try to make amends, apologize anything to try and make a positive outcome.

My hope is that I can return to this establishment and change this review back to 5 stars....because I truly think they deserve it...I hope it was a fluke. I hope they read this and don't let another customer walk out the door. Polish heritage coming out to Algonquin more is huge for my family and I...being from the motherland itself.

For all of you reading this, I still think you should support this small establishment...but for those who read reviews for Intel...just be cautious...

Edit: Cute place, but…..

I first visited on Saturday 9/2/23 and was not super impressed. The sever was a bit cold. They are not very accounting dietary restrictions. The one item I could have (other than salad), that was on the breakfast section of the menu, I couldn’t get because, not due to gluten intolerance (as the business replied; why would I want an avocado panini if it was due to gluten sensitivity?) but because I didn’t want anything that contains animal products. it was past 11:30 am and they refused to make it for me. Citing that the kitchen is very strict. So what?! Get unstrict!

This was not my choice to go here. I was with 5 other people who chose it. There was another member in my group that also had restrictions and wanted the same item I did. Nope! Neither of us could get it.

If they can’t offer items after or before a certain time, then they should have separate menus.

I likely won’t be back, and I probably won’t recommend this place to anyone.

I ended up only getting Diet Coke. Can’t say much about that. It...

There is no shortage of places to eat in McHenry County, but my wife and I wanted to try something we have not been to before, and some new food selections. We chose Algonquin as our destination and settled on Garden on Main. We could not have been more pleased with our decision. Our server Megan was fantastic. We chose the Summer Burrata appetizer and the Polish Platter so we could try a little of everything and we were not disappointed. The Summer Burrata was a full plate of tomato slices, a large portion of burrata cheese and 4 toast wedges. You could tell it was all fresh and of high quality. The Pierogi's were amazing, especially the sauerkraut filled one. The Potato Pancake was crisp on the outside, tender inside and not greasy. The Polish Sausage with Braised Cabbage was fantastic and the Cabbage Roll was delightful. We left full with our tummy's very happy. We look forward to future visits to the outside seating area which includes a bar and a firepit. Garden on Main will be on our repeat...

This is a MUST TRY. To start for coffee I had an iced café cubano latte which was amazing. Not too sweet and perfect amount of coffee taste that I love. My mom had the hot sugar free brown sugar hot coffee which she also enjoyed. We got a few things to share to try sweet savory and a salad. The beet and feta salad was so fresh and had the perfect amount of ingredients per bite. The peach marscapone crepes were not too sweet but so light and fluffy!! The star for me was the beef crepes. The beef itself was cooked to a perfect medium and served with veggies stuffed inside and a small side salad. Our server Cass was so helpful with our questions and suggestions. Overall the service was friendly, quick, and attentive. We sat inside but they also have a great outdoor patio seating area as well. We didn’t get a chance but they restaurant was busy with lots of customers for gelato as well which we will try next time! Soon to be an Algonquin hidden gem ✨

We were really excited for this place to reopen since we used to love it. The new menu is interesting, but honestly, I miss the old one especially the all day crepes, maybe I didn’t see them?. Also, dishes don’t come with sides anymore, and the options are kind of limited. It’s basically just different types of potatoes. The remodel in the inside looks amazing. Service was a little slow, and getting water refills took longer than expected. Plus, the glasses are tiny, luckily, I had my own water bottle lol. Figuring out the new menu was a bit confusing, since I don’t speak Polish, but overall, the food was actually really good. Our waitress was awesome, super friendly, and made the experience much better.

I’ve always been a fan of Polish cuisine, and Garden on Main did not disappoint. The food was flavorful, authentic, and beautifully prepared. The selection of Polish beers and cocktails added the perfect touch to the experience. We sat inside this time, but the patio area with its bar looked so inviting and gave off a cozy European vibe. Every dish we ordered was excellent, from the beet carpaccio to the pierogies and the cabbage roll. It’s hard to pick a favorite because everything was that good. The whole experience felt warm and welcoming, and I’m already looking forward to my next visit. This place is a true gem for anyone who loves traditional Polish flavors.
