Jay and Kathy have an awesome small business going here at “Gio’s Pizzeria”! Their operation is clean, the food is excellent, and the service is outstanding! We had our first meal at Gio’s on Saturday afternoon, 9/27/2025. Our server, Maddie, was as pleasant and friendly as can be. We thoroughly enjoyed our pizza, listening to some great classic rock, and had wonderful conversation with the owners. We are so happy to have a new(er) local pizza place that treats everyone with respect and appreciation. Almost every table was full when we arrived, and we heard every customer say “Thank you” and that they would return soon. That speaks volumes! We are anxious to go back and try a lot more of what is offered on the menu. We wish Jay, Kathy, and the entire staff the absolute best of success! Thanks for a delicious experience!

Don't let the beach aesthetic fool you, this is a great Italian menu with an even better pizza. We ordered the supreme and will for sure order it again. I appreciate the fresh ingredients and the crust was cooked perfectly. The only opportunity I will mention for the owners is the very heavy-bearded cook should wear a beard/hair net. It's unsettling to see that standing over food being cooked. Still, we'll return. 9.5/10

Gio slinging the pies making sure that all's good in Algood! My son and I stopped in to sample the Margheritta pizza and Gio's is legit, definitely recommend paying a visit to try him out!

I ordered a Margherita pizza from here. They only have one size but I estimated about a 14 inch. Now a Margherita is a very specific kind of classic Italian pizza that uses fresh tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and fresh basil and oil. Because it uses fresh ingredients like this, it often has an uneven and "messy" appearance, like an old world pizza.

What I got was just their plain cheese pizza with some shriveled basil thrown on top. It wasn't bad, it was an OK cheese pizza, but I paid $17 for a medium plain cheese pizza which you can get anywhere. I've tried nearly everywhere in Cookeville/Algood and if you want a plain cheese pizza it's hard to beat Marco's and you can get a 16 inch there for about $12 with their takeout deal.

It's OK if you can't make a Margherita. Really it is. But don't advertise that you can make one if you can't. Those of us who really love good pizza get really discouraged at this...

Ive been wanting to try this place for a long time and finally got to try it!!! Wow!!!

I had the Italian sub and the other lady had a pepperoni and cheese with pizza sauce!!!

The other lady is extremely picky with breads and such and she absolutely 💯 loved it!!! Made her two meals!!! It was made perfect and she said it tasted amazing!!! ❤️❤️❤️💯💯💯

My Italian sub was really really good....I asked for it to be made with extra dressing and spicy....YEP!! The ultimately understood the directions....IT WAS SO SO SO GOOD!! ❤️❤️❤️💯💯

Also I love the little board if someone is hungry!!! Thats 💯 amazing!!! With this world the way everything is...it goes a long ways!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
