King Street Grill — Restaurant in Alice

Where to start? Went here on a date night. Worst experience ever. This place is divided up into 3 sections. 2 in front and a bar area in the back. We sat on the first front section with tables. The second front section, which is more private, is suitable for a romantic date. The booths were all dirty. From the table tops to the benches and floor. We had 3 servers. There were 2 older couples in this section with us. They ended up getting up and getting their own drinks. Pathetic, the servers were in the back at the bar area. We ordered our meals, and after idk 15-20 minutes. Let's just say we should have gone to what a burger. We both had chicken fried chicken, only my date had mashed potatoes,and macaroni with cheese.i had fries. Portion size on his sides was laughable. Baby sized our chicken was more gravy and crust than the actual chicken. Our meals came with 2 sides. I ordered a salad. That came after my meal like to go style after. Our drinks were never refilled. I can only assume it was because the back was packed. Which it wasn't. I know because we walked back there to check out the atmosphere before deciding where to sit. Needless to say, we did ask a cook(third server) to please get us to go boxes to pack my fries and salad.. and get the servers so that we could pay. Not going back there for a...

Ordered take out at 11:30 and tried to pick up at 12:15pm..stood at counter for 20 mintues-3 staff asked what I needed - told 3 staff picking up order-all 3 walked away-4th staff asked me same and started working on the register inputting info-a dine in customer walked up behind me and 4th staff asked her if she was ready to check out - I spoke up and asked if i could pay for take out order and 4th staff told she could not check me out - informed 4th staff I had been standing there for 20 minutes and got no response - 4th staff and the other customer just stared at me -- I left without the order and called and spoke to the owner who informed me 4th staff did not have the card to check me out---??..However owner did not explain how 4th staff could check out the dine in customer and not me the take out customer...Very Disappointing Experience from a locally owned restaurant..in the end all the owner said was "oh sorry, it's busy lunch hour and your food is here"... I had hoped that my phone call to the owner would "trigger" changes in checking out take out customers as quickly as the dine in. Very very disappointed at the poor service and treatment. It's obvious MY business did not...

Well, I wanted to say wow and give 5 stars but not for this visit 03/01/23. I had a friend visiting from out of town and I could not wait to take her here to eat the food and service are always so amazing. Not today. The service was extremely slow (visited at 1230pm). Had to flag down other wait staff to get extra condiments and refill our tea. I ordered the lunch special which was meat loaf huge serving I was quite excited...but everything was cold. When I brought it to the attention of the waitress she told me of course because they make it in the morning and it sets there all day. She did offer to go heat it up for me but at that point I told her I could just take it home and warm it up in my own microwave. On a good note the meat loaf and the scalloped potatoes were very delicious. When served warm. Since my guest's chicken fried steak was extremely hot - we figured her baked potato and my meatloaf special was setting on the shelf waiting chillin while her chicken fried steak was...
