Cravings Desserts — Restaurant in Allenhurst

Went in to pick up a special order birthday cake that cost $70. Staff tries to be friendly tables and chairs in the location were dirty with crumbs all over it. They were standing around with no customers, but there was no cleanup. There’s no way I’d sit there and eat at this point. I don’t know if I’ll ever order a birthday cake from here again. My cake had the top partially opened and it was whipped cream with strawberries. The excuse was they didn’t want to smash the strawberries, which is understandable but as I told them you have to secure the closing on the cake. Dirt or particles could get in on the cake and it’s a high allergy season. Again, different things could get on the cake. I was looked at like I had two heads and told this is what they do. I said well you’re gonna have to figure out something because there’s no way I will accept the cake that’s not secured with no closed top on it risking my guess to eat a dirty cake. Some things are just common sense and for as much as a cake cost here which was $20 more than last year for this annual birthday cake I always get. Someone should think a little smarter instead of just expecting someone to accept whatever they say. I am not that person to just accept anything not when you’re paying for service. Cravings Desserts is a really cute bakery in Allenhurst. They also have seating if you wanted to sit and enjoy your goodies inside. My favorite things to buy here are their brownies, carrot cake, cookies, and cheesecake. They make the best brownies, and have a large variety. My favorites are the Oreo, chocolate caramel, and chocolate brownie topped with chocolate buttercream. They are absolutely delicious! The cheesecakes are to die for! They are rich and creamy, and my favorite one is the cheesecake topped with chocolate ganache. They make a really good Monster Cookie too! It's an oatmeal cookie with m&ms, chocolate chips, and peanut butter. They also make a really good carrot cake here! I hear the mousse cakes are another top item, but I tried the chocolate decadence mousse cake, and I just thought it was just ok. I would give this bakery 5 stars, but on my first visit I purchased a chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream frosting, and I thought the cake was dry. It needed to be more moist. Oh my Goodness! Stopped in today while looking for another place. What a happy accident. I purchased a few different items to try. A lemon cookie, a vanilla scone and a sugar cookie with icing. Best lemon cookie ever, rich and flavorful without being too rich or too tart. The vanilla scone ...made me want to get back in the car and drive the 45 minutes back to get more.
