The ribs were very disappointing....my mother in law has gotten catering from them many times. She loves the wings and always gets the pulled pork as well. We celebrated Easter early last weekend to make sure everyone could make it. I love smoked ribs and requested that my mother in law order them this year. Her order was picked up when they opened. The wings are good but not great. They lack flavor but a lot of the family likes them so who am I to argue? The pulled pork was very good as always (it's really hard to screw up pulled pork). Then came the ribs and they were awful. Firstly, they tasted like yesterday leftovers that sat all day and didn't sell and we're given to us the next day. I hate to be that guy but they were awful. They were so dry, that you had to take a spoonful of BBQ sauce after the bite just to swallow it. The bottom membrane wasn't removed and acted like a piece of plastic holding them together. My wife and I have a tiny smoker and can achieve "juicy fall off the bone ribs". These had barely a smoke ring and even less meat that you could bite off compared to what stuck to the bone. I wish that I took a picture, but it was around 11 in the morning on Sunday 4/14/19. (Preordered wings, ribs and pulled pork if you would like to make sure this really happened Old Carolina in Alliance!!) As dramatic as it sounds, it's the absolute truth. Our family is very polite and would never say it to Mom and law that just spent a lot of money for them but the proof was after everyone ate lunch, and nothing was really left except for those pricey ribs! I can't believe that this company has won awards if this is their standard on ribs. I feel so terrible that I asked her to get these when we could have bought a few racks and put them in the Crock-Pot, (which sadly would have tasted better). Just fair warning, don't waste your money on their ribs especially for...
Read moreWent here 3 days in a row, so that’s saying something I guess! First thing I ever tried here was the barbecue bowl, you can get it with a base of either mac and cheese or mashed potatoes, then you choose whether you want it with pulled pork, brisket, or chicken. The mac and cheese didn’t wow me and was a bit much with the rest of the bowl (which comes topped with cheese, scallions, and fried onion strings). It’s extremely rich. I liked the bowl better with the mashed potatoes, some starch to balance out the richness.
The pulled pork sandwich is great, just be aware that the sauce comes on the side, so if they ask you if you want any sauce with that, say yes!
Their classic barbecue sauce is good, different from what I’m used to as I usually go for a more smoky, hickory flavored barbecue sauce, and theirs is more tangy. But it’s sparked something of a craving in me and I want more. The hush puppies were good, you get 6 or 7 of them as well so it’s a good deal. I read online that they go well with the honey mustard, so I tried that, and it was good. The honey mustard is more of a true combo of mustard and honey, it’s very tangy as well.
Bottom line I think is that this place does comfort food. 7 bucks and you can get a big bowl of rich comfort (that I can’t even finish in one setting). And that classic barbecue sauce has me craving more.
I also can’t write this without mentioning the service. They hire well, because this is likely to be the most positive, friendly fast-casual food experience you’ll have in the city. The people they’ve got working for them are extremely knowledgeable and nice. Wish their app was working now cause they’ve got a points...
Read moreEasy, fast, and delicious. They have been training new staff there has been some issues (soggy fries, over salted brikets, & slow service). But overall they are pretty consistent and are good at accommodating my son's allergies. The pulled pork is always a good bet, as is the chicken and brisket. The specialty hot dogs should be avoided unless you like meh hotdogs with great toppings. They had fried okra as a special side at ine point and it was fantastic. The cornbread is more of a cupcake than cornbread but then you can use the cinnamon honey butter as frosting and have that be dessert. I have a location blocks from my house and we go there a good bit. Also tasty smoked wings, cheerwine soda, and 5 different types of sauce. No Alabama white but that doesn't bother me because I don't like that style. Oh and 2 types of slaw (mayo...
