I came across an ad for this restaurant on Instagram, and what caught my attention were the Peruvian options on the menu. I thought it’d be a nice way to relive some memories from my trip to Cuzco and Machu Picchu.

We ordered the Acevichado Roll as an appetizer and the Chaufa de Tierra as our main dish. Unfortunately, I wasn’t particularly impressed by either.

The Acevichado Roll had very small pieces of tuna—noticeably smaller than what I usually see. If the tuna is truly premium and wild-caught, I could understand the portion size and pricing. However, I eat sushi weekly at highly rated spots, and this didn’t quite meet that standard.

As for the Chaufa de Tierra, it was basically just fried rice with beef and chicken, but lacked the bold, savory flavor I associate with good chaufa. I ended up adding soy sauce just to bring out some seasoning.

Overall, I appreciated the idea of Peruvian-inspired dishes, but the execution didn’t quite deliver for me this time.

Lastly, it was a pricey experience considering 2 people...

Overdue review. I took my girlfriend here for date night back in June and had one of the most horrible dining experiences I've had in a while. For starters, they sat us right by the kitchen and once we sat down, we were immediately attacked by gnats. After swatting them away for minutes, we asked to be moved closer to the door thinking we would escape them by being further away. Didn't work. By the time we received our food we spent the entire time swatting gnats away from landing on our food. Horrible experience and can't really comment on the food because the experience was so horrible. Average at best. And the worst thing is whom I presume was the owners saw us swatting at the gnats but did nothing at all to accommodate us or even apologize for something they clearly knew was a problem. That what was the most disappointing, so reading the other negative reviews make perfect sense. Wish I would've read them before patronizing this...

We ordered three lunch dishes to take out, because we saw a wonderful variety and a little something for everyone. First things first - I asked about ingredients in an item, and the order taker suggested a substitution himself (I preferred a cucumber roll in place of the imitation crab meat that came with my box). When the food arrived, it was not substituted after all. The pork katsu was a nice flavour, but a bit dry. The teriyaki in teriyaki chicken was a lot sweeter than expected. The shrimp dish was good. The "shrimp rolls" that come with the lunch boxes are actually California rolls, not shrimp. The miso soup was only broth - nothing else in it, only the liquid. Overall, will definitely give this place another chance (looking forward to checking out the ramen, which is not yet on the menu), but not very impressed on...

We visited Little Tokio to try the beef fried rice (a friend’s recommendation). What we found out is that there is a new administration. The menu has changed and the new owners are developing a fusion cuisine. The Nikkei cuisine is a great fusion of Peruvian and Japanese ingredients. The result is amazingly good. You cannot leave without trying the tuna pizza appetizer. We loved the delicate balanced flavor, really tasty. All the dishes we tried were beautifully presented. We also had tofu, ceviche, spicy shrimp, fried rice and a panacota for dessert. This is their second week in operation they are in a soft launch stage. Definitely a place we will be going again to try more interesting food from the menu. Oh and the fried rice was really good with that unique flavor that only a really smoking hot wok can infuse.

Absolutely delicious! It’s tucked away in a small plaza so it’s pretty much your “hole in the wall” secret that you can recommend to your friends/family. The aesthetic is gorgeous and the food was plentiful and authentic. The Nikkei (Peruvian-Japanese blend) truly shows through in the Nikkei special sushi which was out of this world with the ceviche sauce and fresh fish. We also got the Nikkei stir fry steak which is basically a lomo saltado and the huancaina pappardelle which was pasta with the Peruvian huancaina sauce. My little sister ordered just fries and it came in a bamboo steamer container! Overall very cute place, great service, and delicious food. 10/10 would recommend coming here! Sn: I am Peruvian as well, and this place truly has the authenticity of Nikkei.

We stumbled across this place when we were craving sushi and we were SO happy we did! We came on a friday and they had karaoke which was such a fun vibe. Everyone was so nice & the head chef Daniel was so kind as well. We really enjoyed talking with him and talking to all the staff. This restaurant is such a great vibe! The food is a mix of Peruvian and japanese, everything has its own special touch. The lychee martini was made with pisco sour, DELISH! Sake was great and sushi was 10/10, some of the best I’ve had. Couldn’t recommend this unique and amazing spot anymore! Never been to a sushi spot that also had Peruvian food, but so glad we did! We can’t wait to come back and try more dishes.
