Fast Eddie's Bon Air — Restaurant in Alton

We've been hearing about this place since we moved here almost two years ago. No one told me Fast Eddie's was a walk in, stand in line, order your food from their very limited menu, get an order number, sit, pick up your food, sit, order drinks from the waitress then eat type of place. Almost like a buffet. Almost. The staff were absolutely amazing. Super friendly and helpful. The food.... I'd heard they had the best food in the world! The best burgers! I ordered a (like I always do) cheeseburger plain with extra cheese and the hubs ordered 20 shrimp and the steak kabobs. Neither of us realized it's totally a la carte. The menu signs were all there so duh on us. So hubs gets his shrimp and we sit. We order drinks and they are pretty much delivered immediately. We waited less than I expected given how many people were there. I realize I want some fries. The order taker was amazing. She took my 99¢ and said no ticket just come back in 4 minutes. I got a look at some of the baskets of fries and assumed I was in for some undercooked, soft and mooshy fries. So we're watching (and hearing) order numbers. We were 521. We hear 428, 459, 487, 510.... They don't call individual order numbers. They call between order numbers. At 521 we were called for up to 528. It was confusing but got easier to understand the longer we were there. I had great expectations for the food. Which probably isn't fair to the establishment. Hub's said the shrimp were awesome. I got the fries (after 4 minutes) and they were PERFECT! Perfect! Then our burger and kabob order is ready. His steak kabobs were delish (he said, I didn't try any). My burger (SORRY, THIS IS ONLY MY OPINION!!) had zero, ZERO flavor. I got extra cheese and I couldn't even taste that. It was juicy. Not over or undercooked. They don't ask how you want it cooked so they are all cooked to the same temp. After adding some salt and ketchup (which I am not a fan of) I finished most of the burger. I'll leave the food review at that. The prices are amazingly fair/affordable. It was pleasantly cool inside. They had outside seating with misters to keep you cool. The live band was really good and not too loud. The volume was perfect. I have to mention this because it's a pet peeve of mine... the floor wasn't sticky. At all. The place didn't stink. At all. It was very clean. I/we would def come here again and recommend this establishment. I def will not order the burger again. Sorry it's so...

Wow, and NOT in a good way at All. Totally didn't Expect to see and Experience what we did. Absolutely Terrible. Food was so Bad, it gave us a stomach ache. From the moment we walked in signs Minimum 1 Drink Purchase, what a Joke and Tacky!!! Couple Waitresses. You are forced to order your Food before sitting at a table. Only 6 Items on the Menu, which was posted in a little plastic holder on the tables,absolutely Rediculous. Only Cash accepted, No optios for customers to pay as they wish. No Sauces offered for Wings and such but Only boring Hot Sauce when the wings are already Got. 2 lady's behind the Food Counter weren't even Friendly and Cashier was Rude and very Unfriendly. Not once did any employees smile or even Greeted upon walking in. Food was Not Good At All. Overpriced and everything ala Carte. Couldn't even order the Burger cooked to order and No Fries were included. Burger was so dry, burnt and way overcooked, bun was stale, almost choked on it. No Soup at All. We would have been better off and much happier dining at a Fast Food restauran them this place. No choice to take even leftovers with you because they don't offer to go. What restaurant doesn't allow to go or to order Food to go. Wow .. You couldn't order Beverage's at the counter with your food, so a Server came and took our order, and came right back to collect payment. this restaurant wants and is forcing they're customers to support they're waitresses by tipping them. Waitress came back after bringing our Beverages and wanting to get paid for the beverages while we were eating, couldn't even wait for us to finish. Again very Tacky and Rude. We didn't need a Waitress to bring our beverages when we could have easily served them ourselves if they only offered self serve Station. . Trash all over the floor ,No one cleaning up. Definitely No on recommending this place .Only regret we have is that we stopped in hopes to Enjoy the entire experience and all we got in return was a Big...

Hey friend & family, l just introduced my baby girl, age 26, to a hangout back in my younger days. I am now 64. Coming from a plastic society, l didn't realize it's a CASH ONLY bar and grill. Thus, l purchased 2 cheese burgers and 1 virgin daiquiri. With only $21 cash in my pouch. I purchased the food for $9+ some change and after tipping $1+change to cook. I went to the bartender and asked how much a virgin daiquiri cost. This used to be my go-to some 30 years ago😂 Anyhow, he said $9, so l purchased one because l wanted my girl to get my Fast Eddie experience. Well, she, my daughter, didn't like it after a couple of sips, so l took it as my own. A thick waitress walks up to us and says, "Um... there is a 1 drink minimum per person. You need to buy another drink!" I said sorry, but l didn't know, and l have know more money. At age 64, l honestly blocked out her rebuttal, and after she kept pacing back n forth from group chat at the bar to behind us. I asked to speak with the manager. She said, "Why!" I said get the manager now. After a conversation with the manager, l realize she is ignorant to the 1 drink minimum as it's per table, not person & as he said the $9 spent was more than the cost of 2 sodas so what was the problem... Karen, who made popcorn and never as much as serviced us or our table, wasn't getting paid a tip for no service to us. I swear the overseers are getting younger and dumber by the day!!! My daughter, who relocated here, will never revisit Fast Eddie's. My hometown memories are...
