Hoss's Steak & Sea House — Restaurant in Altoona

Upgraded review. The manager and waitress was over and beyond. We ate dinner on a slow Sunday with our 2 year old. They Changed the TV channel to kids shows to help entertain the little one. The restaurant had the best high chairs I've ever used for a restaurant to boot. We never waited or wanted for anything. This place is the most family friendly restaurant in Altoona hands down. The family will keep coming back. The staff and food are incredible.

This is a nice family place with pretty good food. Love the salad bar. Only thing I can complain about is that they swapped out the normal plates for smaller ones for the salad bar. It makes it difficult to makes one salad with all mixture of greens you want without dropping things and...

Usually a decent experience, but tonight was ridiculously disappointing. After being seated and having our order taken by a server who was upfront about having a memory issue, we waited almost an hour for our food, only to have my order wrong. Was offered to have my order re-made, however after waiting so long I really didnt feel like waiting longer while my wife and daughter ate their food, only to have them have to wait for me. My wife had asked for condiments, never to see them. Asked for to-go containers, had to to go get them from another server as ours was already waiting on other guests and forgot about us. To top it off, our purpose of visiting this evening was to support a school fundraiser that will probably not benefit...

The food here has really gone down hill over the past decade. Been going here since they started in business 50 years ago. Salad bar is average not as many choices as they use to have. As far as their meats selections they are terrible, small, thin cuts, over cooked and over priced. I had a 12 oz. Ribeye that was tuff and dried out was to be medium rare. My uncle got he steak replaced and it was no better than the first overcooked again ordered it medium rare. I think this organization needs to take a serious look at their meals and cook staff and pricing if they are going to make it in the future. I'm done eating here. Sorry Hoss's but the food...
