Tim's American Cafe — Restaurant in Altoona

Small place, but all tables taken within fifteen Or so minutes of being open. Everyone told us to get the fish sandwich that they only serve on Friday. It was OK nothing memorable. Their chicken wings however are ridiculously delicious! The seasoning on them is something I have not had anywhere, and it works great. onion rings are THE BEST. Their hot wing sauce is not spicy at all, so go for the spiciest. Their ranch dressing and blue cheese are both perfection. Their stewed tomatoes on the side are surprisingly memorable and so yummy!!! I'm pretty sure their mac & cheese is Stouffers. They could spend some time cleaning up and definitely get rid of the dirty old curtains. There's a reason why you never see curtains in any big-name restaurants. They hold onto grease and grime and peoples food that accidentally gets sprayed about here and there. They should get rid of the wallpaper borders and other old stuff all over the place and just paint. But That's me. I look around and I see dirt and stuff in things that hasn't been washed in probably a year or two or three...Others might not notice that at all.

This was an awesome place for breakfast or lunch. The food was great and the prices were reasonable. Get the potato salad instead of the pasta...

A hidden gem in Altoona. Great sandwiches !!

Update: Its been several months since I found this place and have eaten here several times, trying many different things on the menu. Every single thing I have ordered so far was either the best I've ever had, or the biggest I've ever had, or both !!! The Reuben sandwich is dynamite. So is the gigantic fish sandwich, and cheese steak. The chicken, steak, or buffalo chicken salads are enormous. And delicious. The wings here are huge meaty wings cooked perfectly drenched in the best sauce ever made. With homemade ranch or blue cheese dressing. I just can't say enough about this place. The only downside is it's very small. They could expand much larger and still easily fill the place.

2nd update: It's been over a year since I started eating here. & I just wanted to edit my review so I could say it again....... Tim's is the best food...

Awesome food, from the menu during the day and then at supper they bring the white board with the specials to each table or get ready for takeout. The prices are average for an average restaurant but this is better than average restaurant food with portions large enough to take home for another meal or two. The prices for the supper meals are between 11 to 18 dollars give or take a couple dollars. Call for a reservation if you have a large number of people coming with you or you want to make sure you don't wait for a table for two but even without a reservation the wait is not very long for a table. It may not be a fancy looking restaurant but this is called the best food in Altoona...
