Honestly the 818 Diner is probably one of the best things to happen to Alva. Over the past 9 years that I've lived in this town I've seen the establishment change constantly and I've never once seen the building get full until it became the 818 which I find amazing and I'm honestly proud of how well the restaurant has grown since it opened up last year and it's improvements over the months.
Another thing to mention is their food the 818 provides a wonderful breakfast selection in the early morning, and a wonderful lunch selection they have their regular specials but they do usually have a daily special which is always wonderful to try. If you're feeling a little hungry for some breakfast they do honor some of their breakfast items during lunch just expect a bit longer of a wait time as you're ordering a breakfast item. Aside from that I've had no recomplaints about the restaurant at all.
The staff is super friendly, they are very attentive to their customers. I do appreciate how well they work constantly to make sure their customers are taken care of. The only minor complaint I do have which I haven't done in awhile is something I noticed last year when you'd order an appetizer you usually anticipate this to come out before your food, there has been numerous occasions in the past when I'd get my appetizer and food at the same time. At this point eating becomes a little daunting due to this I haven't really ordered an appetizer anymore due to my inital fear of getting both food at the same exact time.
Well since COVID began last year they've taken great strides to keep their business open, making sure tables are clean and customers were spaced out they even implemented a drive thru and opened up later hours in the day. This change in shift shows how well the 818 can adapt and its honestly a wonderful site, they even have a mobile app that you can order from, this feature does need to be updated more frequently as some items don't appear properly but aside from that there was not a lot off issues with it. I do recall a month a ago when they offered to do delivery I hope one day that will come true.
Honestly Alva does need more options like the 818 in this town, while this town may be small there is a lot of people that do care about it and the community. I can see the 818 being one of those places, there's just some places in town food wise that don't really care for their customers like the 818 does. If you wish to have a good eating experience I do recommend the 818 Diner as your next place to next time...
Read moreNot much to look at from the outside, but I was VERY PLEASED with everything about my dining on the inside!
There was way more seating than expected. The seats at the tables were comfortable and simple.
The wait staff were young men and women that were helpful, polite, fast, and made the whole time feel homey.
Coffee was good.
I ordered a garden salad with blue cheese dressing (excellent blue cheese and a good side salad), chicken fried steak that was as long as my forearm (and absolutely excellent), and the fries were the best sort of crispy but and tasty.
We were in town for a funeral, but they were able to take care of our big group without any trouble.
Alva's not a big town, so there aren't too many different things to bring somebody bye. If you do find yourself anywhere around Alva, OK then you need to stop in at 818 diner for breakfast or lunch.
I will be making an excuse to go back as soon as is possible.
Thanks for treating me and my family so well even on that somber occasion. You have a...
Read moreWe had an incredible experience today at 818 Diner. We were en route from Garden City to Tulsa; never been through Alva in our lives; whipped into this diner for a quick bite before continuing our trip. When we walked in, the diner was slammed! Looked like the entire populous of Alva was there having lunch. Victoria was our server and she patiently answered my questions about the menu; we ordered; and our food was out in a timely manner. We were ready to go so asked Victoria for our check. She told us that it had already been paid. Told her we were just passing through and didn’t know a soul in Alva. She said, “Just pay it forward. That’s the way we do it here in Alva.” We wish we knew who was so kind so that we could offer our warmest thanks. We’re still in awe of the kindness of total strangers and we felt so very welcomed...
