This was my first time at this spot here in Alvin Texas. La Costa Seafood Grill is a must try spot if you love seafood. As soon as we walked in the door we were promptly greeted by a young lady who walked us to be seated. We were seated and they brought us a basket of chips and salsa. As we started looking through the menu, the young lady proceeded to ask us what we would like to drink. My wife ordered a sweet tea and water with lime. I ordered a half and half sweet and unsweet tea. The young lady proceeded to ask if we would like to order an appetizer, which we informed her that we would indeed like to try the La Costa Seafood Tower. Let me just say wow! When this tower was brought to our table it looked spectacular. The ladies next to us even asked what that was. Which we informed the that it was the La Costa Seafood Tower. They were very impressed. Right before we started to dig in and enjoy the Tower. Our waitress asked us if we were ready to order. We asked the young lady if they had crawfish available, and she informed us that they did. She proceeded to tell us that they had a 5 pound for $30. I was astonished because the price of crawfish have been high lately. I figured If they were that low they were gonna be small crawfish. We decided to give them a try so we ordered them medium hot with half a pound of shrimp, lemon butter, and potatoes. Boy was I wrong. What I'm about to say is a huge statement I know. But I've tried a lot of crawfish and In my humble opinion. This is the BEST and most flavorful crawfish and shrimp I've ever had . Most of the crawfish were baby lobsters to medium size. They had a few small but for the most part they were big. I will definitely be returning here to try...
Read morePlace is clean, nice decor, tried sitting outside but it’s right on the Hwy so we sat inside, still a bit loud. But they were busy. The beer was cold. We had two ceviches for starters. There was almost NO lime juice, it was dry, and lacked seasoning. My wife had the beef tacos. She said they were good. But here’s I think is BS, anything “extra” is an additional cost. Sour cream, $0.99, cheese, $1.99, change refried to charro, $0.99. So a plate of 3 tacos that was $13, if you want sour cream, cheese, and charro, is now $17? WTH? The gumbo had too much tomato (any is too much) but it was loaded. I had the fried shrimp and oysters. They fry the oysters on a batter, not corn meal. So the oyster shrinks when cooked and you end up with a half empty crusty shell with the oysters rolling around inside. It was not appealing. The fried shrimp were great. The waitress couldn’t have cared less. Sorry,...
Read moreI was really looking forward to eating at this restaurant. But I was quickly disappointed as soon as we received our drinks (2 cokes) The drinks tasted funny - probably unfiltered city water (so bad we stop drinking them). We ordered the calamari as an appetizer - once again was disappointed. The batter was tasty, but the calamari was so chewy/tough that we gave up eating it. We ordered the catfish with shrimp and fries. We received our order quickly, and our server was very attentive. But that did not help. The fish, which I dare not call catfish due to its lack of flavor and its strange texture - the texture appeared to be that of shark meat - but with no flavor - the tarter sauce didn't even help. The shrimp had flavor, but like the calamari, it was chewy/tough. Halfway through our meal, my wife and I decided to call it quits since neither of us was enjoying the food. 60.00 dollars...
