Braum's Ice Cream & Dairy — Restaurant in Amarillo

Left the house to go get ice cream at the Braums down the street. Got back AN HOUR later.

Waiting in line at a slow drive through was the least of my complaints. It happens.

They made my order wrong. Ok. That happens.

But the blonde kid in the pink hat at the drive thru really didn’t care. He said, “Well, it’s going to take like 2 minutes to remake this. Maybe even 4!”

I will wait. I have the receipt that shows how I requested this order. Then, he told me to pull up.

Grrrr. We waited behind lots of cars that took way longer than 2-4 minutes each. But ok. So we pulled up. 20 minutes later - I walked in with my receipt. Finally got the attention of a guy and I explained that my order was wrong and I had been waiting for them to bring me my order. He looks at the blonde kid who mutters “oh yeah” and they both walk off with my receipt!

Finally, a nice guy named Israel comes over so I explain - again - and he went to make my order and made it wrong again .. and he was extremely apologetic and nice and cared and went back and made it again. He was very nice when he finally got my order to me.

All I had asked was to leave off something. That’s it. But it’s important because it’s a texture thing that ruins the entire experience of the food.

Israel is the reason I gave this two stars instead of one. Give this kid a raise.

I never did get my receipt back. No idea where a manager was in all of this. I never met one… sure hope it wasn’t...

A delightful find in Amarillo. It is so easy when traveling to stop off at a national brand corporate restaraunt because you know what you're getting and what it costs. However, sometimes buying local can be much better. Braum's is an Oklahoma-based dairy that runs combination ice cream parlors and burger joints, sort of like Dairy Queen. That is where the similarity ends. Braum's burgers are tasty and satisfying. The young man who took my order convinced me that I couldn't go wrong with the Gouda Sweet and Spicy. He was right - it turned out to be flavorful and has a bit of a bite. You won't find that at DQ. The malted milk shake that came with it was excellent, and the fries were crispy. The entire meal was under $10, possibly cheaper than McDonald's and way better. If you feel like a burger and shake in Amarillo, this place...

Went to Braums at 10:40pm- Braums closes at 10:45…. Just needed a gallon of milk!! Doors were locked- went to drive thru- was told by very overly confident young boy, market items cannot be sold thru the drive thru. Told him that the main entrance doors are already locked- he stated um, um, um - the lobby closes at 10:30- REALLY , since when???? When you decided to lock the doors early TONIGHT!! Very disappointed. This is the same Braums if you go after 10:00 on any given evening - you can’t get soft serve yogurt- “because the machine is down!!” AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN! Down & cleaned up early on for employees to leave early!! So great to have other more responsible, service oriented places in Amarillo to...
