Sports World — Attraction in Amarillo

My family and I went to Sports World with family that is in town from Florida. We got there and then we purchased tickets for the Go Carts went outside and waited… There were 7 of us that had paid to ride the Go Carts and there was another family that was going to be riding as well so we opted to wait until the next round as all of us wanted to go together…. We waited, then were motioned to proceed to the carts that were parked underneath the bridge…. We head that way the the worker proceeds to tell us that there are not any 2 seater carts available at this time. All of us not understanding we asked what they meant…. He stated that the people that were riding in the race prior just wanted to ride again and that it was just “Easier” for him to take the tickets and let them ride again… I asked why would they not need to get out and get back in line since we had just waited a whole race to be able to have our entire family together…. He stated “Well you can go and talk to the manager inside” At this point the worker was less than friendly & irritated that we questioned his terrible decision. We opted again to WAIT for another race to be completed so that the entire family could ride together… I did walk back into the ticket office and ask to speak to the manager due to the comments that were made by the worker…. The manager stated that it should not have been handled the way and that no one should just stay in the cart for a second race…. The Manager went out there and told them that the way that it was handled was wrong.. We waited again and finally got to ride..

Then….. Same workers sitting not paying any attention to anything that is happening… My 10 year old son is hit by another driver and was unable to move the cart… I came up to him on the track and stopped my cart and got out to help him get straightened out due to the fact that no one was paying attention and couldn’t see anything that was happening… Then, I’m told that i need to stay in my vehicle because I could get hit… Okay, I get it… I am 40 years old, I have a kid that’s been hit that needs help and I am gonna help when he needs it….

It’s really sad that this is the only place to do this in...

Well priced and several options. the putt putt experience is nothing what it once was. Dirty greens and the place was not well kept. More than half the water features were not running, and I ran into a few low hanging tree limbs. It just needs some TLC. Maybe someday soon they can make some improvements. Amarillo really should have another option for the size of city we are. ALSO, what happened to friendly customer service. It’s lacking at this place.

I look forward to going back and taking my son on the Go-Carts. When he’s old enough and trying out the restaurant. This place has changed so much since I was a kid, and not all for the better but I can tell they are trying. I’m glad someone has kept it going! It’s a difficult economic climate to run a business...

What made it the most fun was just the company I had. The place was built around 2002, and NOTHING has been updated or replaced in that time. The batting cages were just ok, I didn't do the go-karts this time, but I did back in 2002, and even back then I felt like there was almost no power to them. The turf in the mini golf has never been replaced, and they are so traffic worn that a small tap on the ball sends it all the way down the hole, and it is like a warped pool table, where the balls just always gravitate to the edge. Lots of potential, but they desperately need to update the place. Even the wooden posts are half...
