My family and I had come to Amarillo for a celebration of my parents anniversary. While there we decided we wanted ice cream but most of all we wanted frozen mocha's too. We knew that Dunkin' Donuts in Amarillo also had Baskin Robbins. This was basically killing two birds with one stone.
We arrived a little before 9 o'clock (after double checking the hours online) and all of the chairs were on the tables. To me, if I hadn't intentionally stopped in, it would look as if you were closed. Many people would drive on by. I know I would have. When we walked in and asked about it, the young lady told us that they were trying to go ahead and get cleaned up because their manager didn't want them there past 10. I have worked in restaurants and completely understand budget, etc, but more than an hour ahead of closing time is, in my opinion, a little extreme.
We proceeded to order. We asked for frozen coffee and were told that the machine had already been cleaned and we couldn't have it. We asked for ice cream cookies, and were told that they had already turned the oven off for the night. My daughter asked for a strawberry frosted donut (it was her birthday and she had been asking for one all day long) and you didn't have any. Finally, we had to settle for simply a scoop of ice cream. The ice cream was fine, but not want any of us really wanted.
While sitting there eating, there were several more people that came in and asked for various things. They had the same problem as us. Everything they wanted, there was a reason that they couldn't get it. One of those was a group of people that came in and they all wanted milk shakes. They were told they couldn't get them because the machine had already been cleaned for the evening. (at this time is was still just about 9:30) This was a family of at least 6 people. They all turned around and left.
If you are going to have your hours listed to be open until 10pm, then you need to be OPEN until 10pm. You missed a LOT of sales that evening because you were so concerned about not paying out any money, that you missed making quite a bit! If you don't want to have to pay your employees to stay and clean up past 10 then you need to close at 9:30. Again, I get "budget", but if your budget is that bad then paying a couple of minimum wage employees to stay an extra 30 minutes after closing, isn't going to help you from going under. It sounds like if things are that bad, then that's where...
Read moreOk, so I get that when I'm in line for donuts, it's pretty early in the morning and not everyone is at the top of their game at 7:45 am. However, this week has been rough to get a Dunkin Donuts fix before work.
On Wednesday (4.14.21), I was in line FOREVER, just to find out when I got to the window that the reason the line had taken so long was because they weren't going to open until 8 due to a manager call in. Ok, it happens. However, maybe put the sign on the order board, so people don't sit there, giving people who are still in line behind them the impression that maybe someone is taking orders, and its just a slow day.
Not one to hold a grudge, I decided to go see if I could grab some munchkins and a coffee today (4.16.21). I was a bit worried when I got in line, that the fact that it went all the way out to the street meant that they were not open again. However, when I got a bit further in, it was apparent that people were talking to the speaker on the order board. The line was still slow, which isn't the biggest of deals, as long as it keeps moving, which it did. When I got up to the order board, the employee was not the most friendly. I remember when I've worked in food service, sometimes I streamlined my interactions with customers when there was a rush, so I wasn't too worried about it at first, but when I got to the window, he didn't even seem to have the energy to tell me what the cost of my order was. I am also, not a morning person, so I get it, but maybe we don't make it a thing where we put our "not a morning person" on the drive through until they're fully awake.
Of course, I know that there could be a number of factors in why someone is not on their A game. I know that people in the service industry are very tired these days. I truly hope his day/week gets better and that Dunkin can go back to being their awesome selves!
P.s. my coffee and...
Read moreThe manager who I suspect was the middle aged black woman was extremely slow in every action she made behind the counter. Her clothes were dirty and her hair was unkept. The children behind the counter forgot our coffee and had to be reminded to give another lady her doughnuts! One young bearded fellow was listening to his headphones and playing with his phone and did nothing to help us or any of the other people behind the counter working with him. But, all of the children were in good spirits and continued to play as we and other customers struggled to get our order. There was a middle aged white woman that seemed to be assertive and busy with her work on the ice cream side of the business. The rest of the employees deserve to be fired especially the black lady that is I assume the manager. To the owner of this business....YOU ARE LOSING MONEY!!!! You need to take a serious look at the way chic-fil-a hires, trains, and enforces codes of conduct in regard to customers. Just an example. I will not be spending any more money with your establishment. You will be ashamed and infuriated if you take a look at how your business is...
