Lady at the desk was super nice, but the check in system was majorly screwed up. They couldn't properly check me in, so they gave me random room keys and told me "they'd figure it out later" which is great and all, but then another person's welcome screen popped up on my TV causing us to become anxious someone else would try to get in the room thinking it's theirs (See attached photos. My name isn't John).
I must stress the lady at the front desk was super nice when I brought this fact up, but didn't really seem to know what was going on and told me it would probably be fine. I almost left the hotel.
It's a recently renovated Hilton from a Comfort Suites. It was done pretty cheaply. They gave it the landlord paint job special (lazily painting around objects, leaving evidence of previous paint jobs. See pics). Some new devices weren't even plugged in yet. Everything felt cheap. Breakfast was okay.
I stayed at a couple different Hilton properties on my trip and came away unimpressed with all of them. Will probably start leaning towards other properties...
Read moreCame in for a quick trip as I have moved out of the area several months ago. First time I have stayed at a Spark by Hilton although I am a HHonors member. ||It is a fresh remodeled Hotel (past few months??). The staff from the front desk, too the house keeping(Lucy stopped and spoke to me for 5-10 minutes), and Valerie(front desk check in), and 4-5 others that were very friendly, and helpful. I hate to even use those 2 names everyone does a great job. You know you are valued, and truly feel that they are happy you are here. I travel many times a year, have for most of my professional life, you don’t get this type of service unless you stay in a boutique hotel, and I would challenge the friendliness and “feel” you get from this Spark isn’t as good or much better than more expensive hotels. ||Whatever this owner, operator is doing, you can tell his staff understand their job and enjoy working for him.. ||Stay here, check in late or whenever, if you make it back thru. Amarillo again, I bet you will be back. ...
Read moreJohnathan, the front desk guy, was amazing!! He looked to be the only one there and mainted the hotel like a champ! Me and my family were on our way back from a long camping trip and he made our last stop very comfortable with his friendly service. I saw another review where it said carts were not available, but that wasn't true. There are plenty of carts to help bring in luggage. The room was very clean and the hotel was well maintained. The pool is indoors so there is a very "pool smell" upon entering because there was a ton of kids running in and out of the pool area, but once you get to the hallway it isn't bad. The breakfast variety was meh but it was free with the room so no real complaints there. All in all a very nice, clean place to sleep and chill...
