The portions are quite small for the price they are charging. They could definitely put more meat on their gyros and cheesesteaks. They were also pretty dry. The gyro needed more sauce and the cheesesteak didn't have any mayo. Combine that with small portions and you get dry sandwiches. If you are going to charge $12-13 for a sandwich with fries I expect more. What I got looked nothing like some of the other photos posted on here. Mine were wimpy and disappointing.
Take Publix subs, for example. You can order a custom sub made from any meat and cheese from their deli, add all sorts of toppings, get it toasted... They put a nice portion of meat on there and the subs are not dry unless you ask for it that way. A big ol' custom sub there costs $11.
I drove from Montezuma to check this place out. I tried to call them on the way to make sure they were actually open (I've learned that in the south people are way more lax about hours of operation). No one would answer the phone. I called about ten times and finally a guy answered and told me they close the kitchen at 7:15. Google said they close at 7:30. I thought that was unprofessional. When I got there I saw 3 people working. There was only one table with about 8 people there, so they weren't overwhelmed or anything.
I wouldn't drive out of my way to go back there. In fact, I would rather go to Wrap N Kabob in Warner Robins instead. Much much better. I suppose if you live in Americus it's your only option for a gyro as far as I know.
P.S. I can't wait for the Fair this year. The gyros there are the best I've ever had. Suggestion to the owners of Gyro City: If you want to know what a good gyro is, go to the GA...
Read moreWe are visiting the area and were looking forward to Greek food after we were recommended this restaurant. We live in Florida near Tarpon Springs so we know Greek food. We ordered a Mediterranean Platter and Greek Salad. The falafel were excellent as was the humans, tzatziki and stuffed grape leaves. The pita portion was small despite ordering an extra portion. The Greek salad on the other hand was to sorriest Greek salad I have ever had. The lettuce was bitter and cut in thin strips. There were maybe two tiny tomatoes cut in half. The olives were sliced canned olives not the whole delicious Greek olives I would expect. There was no cucumbers, onions or peppers. The oil and vinegar were bland, not extra virgin Greek olive oil I would have expected. Despite ordering and paying for extra feta the salad was still bland and disappointing. For the price I would have expected a heartier and more flavorful salad. I believe I paid $7.50 for less than $1 of ingredients. It would not take much for the owner of this restaurant to take it to the next level. Start by taking a simple green salad into a Greek salad and increase the portion to...
Read moreAmazing food and service! What we are and loved....falafel, Angus birder, lamb gyro, loaded fries, Greek salad, and double cheeseburger ..yes, we took food home. I used to frequent the Greek restaurants of Tarpon Springs and while this has more of a new lunch shop feel rather than the older restaurant feel of those places, the food is up there in quality and flavor! Oh! Almost forgot cardamom tea...get some! It is so good. Never had it before and tried it there and fell in love! It has great health benefits too!!! Gotta try this place if you haven't. Honestly, all the food was amazing but my kids can't stop talking about how perfect and delicious the French fries were. My little one even tried and liked falafel and sauce. The lady behind the counter (wish I had gotten her name) was so friendly and sweet! She helped make recommendations when I was undecided and had a great rapport and...
